CHARITABLE RESEARCH ORGANIZATIONS & LIFE ISSUES
For many years, ALL has been tracking charitable organizations and their corresponding positions on the life issues. We recently updated our database to make it easier to read and search. Below you’ll find our newest list of organizations.
Most of the charity organizations on our list are marked with RED. It is simply an unfortunate fact that most national medical research or advocacy groups support some form of unethical/anti-life position.
The rating is based on the organization’s response to written correspondence (regular postal or email), a review of the organization’s website, verifiable news reports, verifiable correspondence forwarded to us by others, and/or a combination of any of these.
A GREEN COLOR indicates that ALL considers the organization worthy of support from pro-lifers. ALL considers an organization to be pro-life if it is opposed to all of the following: abortion, human embryonic stem cell and/or aborted fetal body parts research, all forms of cloning, pro-abortion organizations (including Planned Parenthood Federation of America), and any attacks against the human person at any stage of development.
A YELLOW COLOR indicates that ALL urges caution when considering support for the organization due to a change in a prior rating. That is, an organization may have previously received a green positive or a red negative because of certain policy positions that are now questionable or cannot be verified.
A RED COLOR indicates that ALL does not consider the organization worthy of support from pro-lifers. If the organization supports in any way (theory, advocacy, lobbying, granting and/or research) any offenses to life, it is not considered pro-life. Further, if any organization refuses to answer our inquires, refuses to be clear about its position, and/or attempts to couch its answer in terms of referring to another agency (i.e., federal government branches), it is not considered pro-life.
In our database below, you will find the name of the organization,
a description (usually provided by the organization),
and its position(s) on life issues.

Upholds pro-life values/Does not support anti-life organizations or agendas
Updates
A representative of Cure International reached out to email to American Life League in November 2024 to clarify the organization’s stance on the life issues: “CURE International provides no-cost surgical treatment for children who are survivors of physical trauma or disabilities. They do not treat adults, nor do they provide prenatal care, labor and delivery care, PICU care, maternal care, reproductive care, or general healthcare. They treat kids with burns, broken bones, and life-threatening neurological conditions and have absolutely nothing to do with abortion, contraception, or anything whatsoever to do with reproduction…We are not in any way, shape, or form involved in anything related to women’s reproductive rights. We only treat children for orthopedics, plastics/reconstructive, and neurological conditions. We are not involved in any teaching or the promotion of contraception because, again, we only provide acute medical care for children (rather than public health). We are very pro-life in the sense that our hospital in Uganda treats children who would likely die without neurosurgical care.”

Research in the Batten disease field is primarily focused on yeast and animal models from mice to sheep, where the disease naturally occurs.” This charity is yellow as it is a change from ALL’s previous red rating, and not enough is known about the organization’s stance on life issues.

On 10/6/2023, CCFA responded with the following statement: “At this time, the Foundation is not funding any research initiatives nor investigator-initiated grants using human fetal tissue (stem cells derived from fetuses). We have several stem cell projects using adult mesenteric stem cells (stem cell from the abdominal wall) or inducible pluripotential stem cells (iPS). Inducible pluripotential stem cells are adult stem cells that have been reprogrammed to act like embryonic stem cells. With the advent of iPS technology, cell research can continue without relying on fetuses or cloned embryos.” When ALL asked them to state if they condemn the use of human embryonic stem cells, or if they would use them if it weren’t for iPS, they only replied with: “The Foundation only funds adult stem cell research.”

Updates
In 2018, Make-A-Wish helped a terminally ill teenager grant his wish to make a video to Texas governor Greg Abbott to urge him to abolish abortion in Texas. They are not politically affiliated and do not give funds to other organizations but to their Make-A-Wish branches around the world. There was controversy in 2021 that wishes would not be granted to children not vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine; however, CEO Richard Davis released a statement immediately countering this claim and said Make-A-Wish Foundation would grant wishes to all children and families despite vaccination status. Their largest community partner is Disney.

Supports abortion and human embryonic stem cell research, promotes LGBTQ+ lifestyle
Updates
In an email on 7/24/2023, ALL asked what their current stand is on using human embryonic stem cells in their research, as they did mention use of them back in 2009 on their website. We have not received a response. Nothing new or different has been addressed from their statement in 2009. They also promote the LGBTQ+ lifestyle among the elderly. Ironically, Alliance for Aging Research also showed their support for abortion in June of 2022 when they released a press statement expressing their disapproval of The Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade. One of the five bullet-point reasons they make is that “Restricting access to abortion will inevitably lead an increased burden on grandparents to provide for basic needs and serve as caregivers.”

ALLIANCE FOR Girls
Their mission is to ensure girl-serving organizations are more connected, more effective and better able to prepare the girls of today to be leaders.
Supports Abortion, promotes LGBTQ+ Lifestyle, Contraception
Updates
Alliance for Girls is very pro-abortion and has an active relationship with Planned Parenthood of Mar Monte and other pro-abortion groups. Alliance for Girls took to Twitter on 7/13/23 to praise the FDA for approving the first U.S. over-the-counter birth control pill. They alsocondemned the Dobbs vs. Jackson decision in the Supreme Court in a statement on their website, which then turned into a fundraising plug for PP of Mar Monte and the other pro-abortion organizations. Lastly, Alliance for Girls heavily promotes the LGBTQ+ agenda as well .On their “What We Do Page,” Alliance for Girls emphasizes their work with gender-expansive youth. They make it a point to define that: “The binary doesn’t serve anyone. When we say girls, we are referring to gender-expansive youth (cis girls, trans girls, non-binary youth, gender non-conforming youth, gender queer youth and any girl-identified youth).”

When researching the former CAMR organization, they made a statement still available on their old website from 2013 that they transitioned their mission to ARM. Updates
As of June 25, 2023: The BSUA and GSUA led the “PRIDE” parade in Seattle. The Boy Scouts of America’s permission of gay scouts in 2013, only to be followed by gay troop leaders the following year, caused a major shift in the direction the movement was focusing on. As of 2022, the Boy Scouts has instituted a DEI badge as a prerequisite to the Eagle Scouts and requires children and teens from 11-17 to learn and participate in pro-LGBTQ+ discussions and activities. The Boy Scouts also has their own group of their DEI section for LGBTQ+ youth called “The View.” They have also vocally supported the Black Lives Matter movement, which actively supports abortion and anti-family lifestyles.

Muscular Dystrophy Association
Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is the #1 voluntary health organization in the United States for people living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases.
Supports Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Updates
MDA emailed ALL with the following response regarding embryonic stem cell research: “Embryonic stem cells are typically derived from human embryos that have been fertilized in vitro (such as in an In Vitro Fertilization clinic) and then donated for research purposes with informed consent of the donors. While these type of stem cells were used in research in past decades, due to advances in technology, they are no longer in wide use in neuromuscular disease research and MDA is not currently funding any projects using embryonic stem cells. MDA’s research advisory committees, composed of the country’s most outstanding neuromuscular scientists and physicians, strongly recommend that stem cell research – with appropriate scientific review and ethical guidelines – could potentially help lead to advances that save and improve the lives of people fighting muscle disease.” This edited statement (full statement can be found in attached pdf) does not condemn the use of human embryonic stem cells, but instead states that because they don’t work as well as Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells, they don’t currently use them.
