Planned Parenthood Gets a Bad Look in ‘New York Times’ Article
In case you missed it, The New York Times released an article in February about Planned Parenthood, and the organization was not painted in a favorable light. The article highlighted Planned Parenthood’s current crises as staff are quitting, women are suffering serious health issues from failed abortions, the organization is met with lawsuits, patient numbers have decreased, and so on.
STOPP International has been highlighting these truths about the abortion organization for decades, especially when it comes to its lust for abortion and the money it makes them.
The NYT article opens with a story of a woman who suffered health complications following a failed abortion by a Planned Parenthood in New York. Following her health complications, she delivered her baby, who ended up dying. The woman then filed a lawsuit against this Planned Parenthood affiliate. Flooding the report are stories of improper insertion of contraceptive devices by Planned Parenthood staff, negligent reporting of STI positive results to patients, facilities that are not up to health and safety code, and management issues, which led to firings and voluntary staff departures.
The article does cite the financial deficits and struggles Planned Parenthood continues to claim, yet Planned Parenthood reported its earnings of more than $2 billion dollars in total revenue in the 2022-2023 FY. Though the organization is facing declines in patient and service numbers each year, it continues to make more money from the US government every year, no matter who is in office (see more data here). While, to pro-lifers, the article does not provide new insight about the abortion giant, it is surprising when a mainstream media source, such as The New York Times, publishes a not-so-glamorous story for many different eyes to read.
Planned Parenthood of Southern New England Earns Big Funding from Connecticut for Abortion Pills
Lawmakers in Connecticut passed an “emergency bill” last week that granted $800,000 to Planned Parenthood of Southern New England, which will be primarily used for the stockpiling of abortion pills. PPSNE’s vice president admitted that while the organization can allocate its funds from the state for any purpose, it will ensure that part of it will go toward purchasing mifepristone, otherwise known as the abortion pill.
Democratic Representative Jillian Gilchrest stated that after delays on passing this bill, “Folks in the community reached out to their legislators, to the Speaker of the House, to let them know that getting mifepristone here into the state under this current Trump administration was vitally important.” Further, this grant ensured that the organization is “the biggest nonprofit beneficiary of the legislation.”
In a press release on PPSNE’s website, CEO Amanda Skinner applauded Connecticut legislators for this decision:
Planned Parenthood health centers are an irreplaceable part of our health care system. We appreciate that our elected leaders recognize the urgency of this moment and the real threats to reproductive health and rights coming from anti-abortion and anti-Planned Parenthood opponents. . . . Connecticut continues to be a leader in the fight for reproductive freedom and this additional funding will help ensure patients continue to get the health care they need from their trusted providers, including access to medication abortion.
By urgency, Skinner means making even more money from selling drugs to murder preborn children. This bill is devasting for the preborn babies whose lives are at stake because of Planned Parenthood and its push for abortion. Though we know that abortion pills are accessible in all 50 states both legally and illegally, the efforts by legislators to make abortion pills widely available are both disturbing and shameful.
While Planned Parenthood of Southern New England continues to bask in its “victory” of making blood money from deadly bills such as this one, STOPP will continue its efforts to educate the public and legislators on Planned Parenthood and why this organization must be defunded once and for all.
