Fearmongering for Money: The Woes That Planned Parenthood Fears Most
By Katherine Van Dyke
For several months, the American public has heard cries from political ads and groups stating that if their candidate was not chosen, “women’s rights and healthcare” would cease to exist, and women would be in danger. While these fearmongering mantras are nothing new, they have only increased since November 6, 2024. It goes without saying that Planned Parenthood has been one of the strongest, if not the strongest, force behind inciting panic and fear into women both before and after the election.
Many of us know by now that this fear stems from Planned Parenthood’s reliance on federal funding to continue killing babies, supply harmful chemicals to interfere with one’s biology, and promote promiscuity among men and women. In its most recent Annual Report, Planned Parenthood Federation of America reported that it received $699.3 million in government funding alone in the 2022-2023 fiscal year. This means that, besides private donations, Planned Parenthood heavily relies on funding from the US government to keep its baby-killing business going.
A recent article in the Maine Morning Star explains that Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund’s immediate concern under a new presidency is funding. The article quotes many of the affiliates’ fears of losing both Title X funding and Maine’s Medicaid program, which covers abortion and gender “treatments.”
Another article from Gothamist illustrates Planned Parenthood of Greater New York’s concerns post-election in combination with its recent closure of four facilities throughout the Empire State. Wendy Stark, CEO of PPGNY, told Gothamist that she is “hopeful the state will once again take steps to replace any federal dollars that are lost”(emphasis added). Yet the article said she “fears there will be new strategies employed to cut public funding to abortion providers this time around.” Despite Planned Parenthood’s “many other services that are not abortion,” the organization always shows its true colors by returning to abortion—its golden calf and largest money-making “service.”
As for the election, what do the prospects of a new administration mean for Planned Parenthood? While we surely would like it to mean an end to government funding of this destructive organization, the recent actions and statements made by the incoming administration make it difficult to believe that protecting preborn lives is foremost in their agenda. However, this does not mean that all is lost or that we should live in fear. Rather, it means that pro-lifers must hold the new administration accountable for its actions and for laws that impact the preborn person.
STOPP will continue to demand and encourage all our country’s leaders to cut federal funding to Planned Parenthood and other abortion groups.
STOPP Action Item Update: Deaf School Hosts Event with Planned Parenthood
By Katherine Van Dyke
On August 21, 2024, STOPP reported that Planned Parenthood of Delaware created a video series containing sexually perverse “education” specifically geared toward middle and high schoolers who are deaf. Planned Parenthood of Delaware then announced it would contact all the deaf schools for middle and high school students throughout the US to implement these videos into their curriculum. STOPP asked our faithful supporters to join us in writing letters to these schools and asking them to reject Planned Parenthood’s radical sex education video series.
After months of little-to-no response from these schools, STOPP’s research department discovered through a social media post today that Planned Parenthood of Greater New York will be participating in an event hosted at one of the deaf schools STOPP contacted months ago.
St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf in Brooklyn, NY, is hosting a “Turkey, Fixins, and Resource Fair” this Saturday, November 23. Despite its namesake, St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf is no longer a religiously affiliated institution.
This Saturday’s event is put on by District 35’s councilwoman, Crystal Hudson. Hudson herself proclaims that she is a “proud supporter of Planned Parenthood” and has received endorsements from Planned Parenthood of Greater New York. So it should be no surprise that Planned Parenthood of Greater New York will sponsor the fair as well. Not only is PPGNY sponsoring the fair, but it announced on X that it will be there to “distribute safe sex kits & more.”
According to another local website, the event is supposed to be family-friendly with one of the sponsors “distributing books for school-aged kids.”
This leads to two questions: 1) Why would the school host such an event in its building? 2) Does the school have a relationship with Planned Parenthood, especially regarding sex education?
Action Item: Please join STOPP in contacting St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf and voicing concern over Planned Parenthood’s participation in this event on the school’s premises. We also urge the school to reject Planned Parenthood’s sex education program and any partnerships with the abortion giant going forward.
