Week in Review – Senate Democrats are trying to pass pro-abortion legislation
There is a growing feeling of urgency in the US Senate this week, as Congress has less than six weeks to pass Fiscal Year 2022 funding bills before the December 3 deadline.
As reported by the SBA List, this week Senate Appropriations Chairman Leahy released the Senate versions of nine appropriations bills, including Labor, Health & Human Services (LHHS), as well as State & Foreign Operations(SFOPS), which hold great importance to those defending life in federal spending at home and abroad.
PRO-LIFE TOPLINES:
The bills unveiled this week by Chairman Leahy include provisions to:
- Codify removal of the Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance Act (PLGHA), which was instituted by President Trump and stops US taxpayer funding of the abortion industry overseas.
- Remove the Hyde-Weldon Amendment, which stops discrimination against healthcare entities that do not participate in abortion.
- Require Title X grantees to provide abortion counseling and referrals, in addition to increasing Title X funding by 75%.
- Remove the Dornan Amendment, which stops taxpayer funding of abortion in the District of Columbia.
- Remove the Smith Amendment, which stops taxpayer funding of abortion for federal employees.
- Gut the Kemp-Kasten Amendment, which stops US dollars from funding organizations that support or participate in coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization.
- Increase funding by over $20 million for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), which has actively partnered with some of the worst human rights abusers in the world, like China and North Korea.

Also this week, Senator Shelby’s team at Senate Appropriations put together a good across-the- board review of various provisions. We encourage you to follow the link and see how the bills not only affect abortion, but also Neglecting Border Security and Changing Immigration Policy; Compromising the Fight Against Terrorism; Pushing the Green New Deal; Partisan Labor Reforms; and Political Poison Pills.
All this activity in DC will result in approval of a budget under which the United States will operate from October 1, 2021, to September 30, 2022. It is extremely important that you understand what is happening and that you contact your members of Congress, particularly your United States senators, to let them know your position on the bills.

Video of the Week – Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month
October is the month of much awareness—Down syndrome, ADHD, breast cancer, dyslexia, domestic violence, spina bifida, vegetarianism and . . . Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, something Planned Parenthood will never celebrate, since it’s responsible for the murder of over 350,000 preborn babies annually.
Jim Sedlak, the nation’s leading expert on the nation’s largest abortion chain, discussed Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month on One America News’ Tipping Point.

Action Item of the Week – Make your plans for December 1, 2021
We know December 1 seems like a long way off, but it’s is less than six weeks from today.
On December 1, the United States Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments in a case involving a Mississippi law that regulates abortion for babies in the womb who have reached a gestational age of 15 weeks or more.
The case before the court, Dobbs v. JWHO, will have SCOTUS examining the Roe v. Wade decision of 1973, as well as the Planned Parenthood v. Casey decision of 1992, among others.
It is a case that has the potential for rewriting abortion laws in the nation.
At American Life League, we are praying that the justices will use this case to declare that, legally, every human being’s life begins at his or her creation, that a right to abortion does not exist and that every abortion is illegal—without exception.
There will be a pro-life rally outside SCOTUS during oral arguments on December 1.
We are encouraging every pro-lifer to join the rally on December 1 from 8 am-noon in DC.
At the site below, you can find more details:

Can’t make it to DC? As soon as it is available, we’ll bring you information on signing up to host a watch party, so you can see the action outside the court and hear the oral arguments in real time on December 1.
