Action Alert

Virginia’s Governor Elect Nominates FBI Leader Who Targeted Catholics

Virginia’s pro-abortion governor elect, Abigail Spanberger, just announced several of her hopeful political appointments before she takes office in January 2026. One of the most shocking announcements is her nomination of Stanley Meador as Virginia’s Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security. Meador was the former Richmond FBI special agent who led a targeted investigation of traditional Catholics in 2023, causing uproar and backlash from Catholics and all of those who support religious freedom.

On Tuesday of this week, Catholic News Agency reported that Meador worked in several FBI field offices across the country before settling in Richmond, Virginia, in 2021. However, it was revealed in 2023 that the FBI office in Richmond, led by Meador, launched an investigation into Catholics who prefer attending the Traditional Latin Mass, in an attempt to connect them to white supremacy and nationalism. The FBI memo, entitled “Interest of Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists in Radical-Traditionalist Catholic Ideology Almost Certainly Presents New Mitigation Opportunities,” had undercover agents attend Mass and interview priests and laity in an attempt to find if Catholics supported what the liberal administration at the time considered “hateful.”

Accusations from the Richmond FBI field office regarding traditional Catholics included being “racist,” “sexist,” and “violently” opposed to those who identify as LGBTQ+. Meador’s FBI also stated that these Catholics were a part of a “far-right white nationalist movement” for opposing abortion and supporting the overturning of Roe v. Wade. The memo even cited Southern Poverty Law Center’s listing of nine Catholic groups as “hate groups.” This action by the FBI was met with much condemnation, including a public letter from Bishop Barry Knestout of the Richmond diocese.

Though the Trump administration placed Meador on administrative leave back in June 2025, Spanberger has allowed Meador right back into the public square by giving him a position of power; ironically, this is a position that is supposed to keep all citizens within the commonwealth safe. If one’s First Amendment right to religious freedom is violated, as was the case of Meador’s FBI investigation into traditional Catholics, then we know that religious targeting, not safety, was the priority. This outrageous nomination by Spanberger is certainly troubling. While Meador’s nomination will need to be voted on in January by the Virginia General Assembly, as followers of Christ, we cannot live in fear of what’s to come but rather be vigilant and always stand up for the Truth, found in Christ Jesus and His Church.

If you live in Virginia, please join us in respectfully writing to our delegates and asking them to vote NO on Meador’s appointment in January for the reasons above. You can do this at virginiageneralassembly.gov.

Reports Say FDA Purposely Delayed Investigations into Abortion Pills

According to newly obtained information, Bloomberg is reporting that the US Food and Drug Administration intentionally delayed opening an investigation into the abortion pill regimen.

Bloomberg News reports that Commissioner Marty Makary told agency officials to delay the safety review until after the midterm elections.

In May of this year, ALL reported that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ordered the FDA to conduct a full review on mifepristone, the first of two pills in the abortion pill regimen. Secretary Kennedy’s order follows the Ethics & Public Policy Center’s recent study on the harmful effects of the abortion pill on mothers (see here for ALL’s summary of this study).

ALL stated the following

As defenders of life, we need to face this reality: Abortion pills are designed to kill preborn babies. This is reason enough for these pills to be banned and not merely restricted. The intent of mifepristone is to block progesterone from the baby, which is necessary for the child’s survival in the womb. This pill starves the baby to death, operating as a deadly agent for the innocent human life growing in the mother’s womb. As defenders of life, we should not be asking and settling for previous restrictions to be implemented on this drug. Restrictions further imply that abortion is “okay” sometimes and that we are open to some child-killing up to a point.

We must call on the FDA to ban these deadly drugs and not settle for previous or new restrictions. Rather, we need to hold our government leaders, health departments, and communities accountable and demand that they act against the approval, manufacturing, and selling of the abortion pill, which always seeks to kill a preborn baby.

It is clear that neither the FDA nor HHS takes the dangers of the abortion pill seriously. Regardless, the answer to this genuine crisis, as we stated before, is not reinstating restrictions. The answer is dismantling the abortion pill industry in its entirety.

Until the FDA takes that seriously, it doesn’t really matter if they wait until midterms are over or not. Babies’ lives will still be at risk, and mothers will still be putting their lives in danger.

It is estimated that somewhere between every 1 in 5 to 1 in 10 pregnancies will end in an early miscarriage, of which 80% happen in the first six weeks. As common as miscarriage might seem, it doesn’t negate the suffering endured by mothers. The excitement experienced at the first sign of pregnancy is lost to the grief of who the child would have grown up to be.

Pro-aborts want Texas mothers to believe that every miscarriage is a path toward incarceration. One mom in Texas shared her miscarriage experience, and this soon caught the attention of Vice President Vance.

“. . . I could let nature take its course, I could jump-start the process with medication, or I could opt for a D&C. At no point was I blamed or questioned. It wasn’t my fault. I was a grieving mother…I am still a grieving mother…who lost her child. The medical system and the people within it, did what they could for me throughout the entire process. My story is not an outlier. It’s the norm. We do not live in a dystopian novel. Shit happens. Awful shit happens. But don’t you DARE scare women who are out there just trying to build a family for your own political gain. Monsters. Every one of you who push this narrative that women will be imprisoned for a miscarriage.”

That’s the heartless, pro-abortion way. Tell a mother that grief is less important than politicizing the pain. X users shared their pain of loss.

“. . . pregnancy loss, photography, grief counseling, memorial services, etc for health systems here. This narrative that was and is still circulating is so so so harmful and completely without merit and I can speak for almost every corner of the state. It’s unbelievable how providers have been silenced and slandered over this outrageous lie.”

Don’t believe the lies.
