Week in Review

HHS Secretary Calls for Review on the ‘Safety’ of the Abortion Pill

Late last week, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ordered the FDA to conduct a full review on mifepristone, the first of two pills in the abortion pill regimen. Secretary Kennedy’s order follows the Ethics & Public Policy Center’s recent study on the harmful effects of the abortion pill on mothers (see here for ALL’s summary of this study).

Pro-abortion politicians and media outlets have been outraged over the order, claiming the study is using “flawed” science and research and that the Department of Health and Human Services should disregard EPPC’s study. The pro-abortion side claims that it is simply not true that “serious adverse events following mifepristone abortions is at least 22 times as high as reported on the drug label.” To this, Secretary Kennedy said, “Clearly [the study] indicates, at the very least, that the label should be changed.”

It is certainly encouraging that there is a review being done on the deadly abortion pill. The serious mental health strugglesphysical health complications, and even death for mothers who have used the abortion pill have been examined over the past 25 years and ignored by our government. We should know by now that these drugs are not safe or good for women, and it is time that our government and health leaders do something to put a stop to its access.

However, as defenders of life, we need to face this reality: Abortion pills are designed to kill preborn babies. This is reason enough for these pills to be banned and not merely restricted. The intent of mifepristone is to block progesterone from the baby, which is necessary for the child’s survival in the womb. This pill starves the baby to death, operating as a deadly agent for the innocent human life growing in the mother’s womb. As defenders of life, we should not be asking and settling for previous restrictions to be implemented on this drug. Restrictions further imply that abortion is “okay” sometimes and that we are open to some child-killing up to a point.

We must call on the FDA to ban these deadly drugs and not settle for previous or new restrictions. Rather, we need to hold our government leaders, health departments, and communities accountable and demand that they act against the approval, manufacturing, and selling of the abortion pill, which always seeks to kill a preborn baby.

Let us continue to fight for the dignity and respect of mothers and their babies, no matter the circumstance or stage of pregnancy.

ALL will continue to monitor this story as it develops.

The Truth: ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ Sacrifices Preborn Children

American Life League is pointing to major flaws benefiting Planned Parenthood in the House’s “big, beautiful bill” coming out of a marathon overnight session. According to the pro-life organization known as a Planned Parenthood watchdog, the package released on May 22, 2025, sacrifices preborn children.

Katie Brown Xavios, American Life League’s national director, issued the following statement in response to the legislative action:

This bill is not the full win it’s portrayed to be. As written, the House-approved ‘big, beautiful bill’ will still fund Planned Parenthood for abortions in the cases of rape, incest, and the mother’s health. Give Planned Parenthood an inch, and it will take a mile. If the exceptions are the only way Planned Parenthood will get paid, you better believe that every abortion will now become a life-or-death situation so that Planned Parenthood ensures that it will get its money.

This exception clause will still allow for the murder of millions, and with a save-some-not-save-all mentality we will never see the total protection of preborn children. If they can justify the murder of one baby, they can justify the murder of many. As pro-life advocates, we must set the bar higher.

St. Ignatius: Loving and Caring for the Whole Person: St. Ignatius had dreams of being a knight, living an exciting life, and fighting battles, but a terrible accident kept him bedridden for months. During that time, he read several books that changed his life. He realized that he had been living for worldly things rather than with the goal of spending eternity with God. From that moment on, he changed his life—and thus the lives of countless who came after him. From his teachings, we get the Ignatian term cura personalis, which means “care for the whole person.” This lesson explores Ignatius’ life and how to apply the concept of cura personalis to our own lives. Now on sale for just $2! ORDER HERE

Pro-Abortion Catholics Prayer Card: You cannot be Catholic and pro-abortion, as that flies in the faith of God’s laws and of the tenets of the Catholic Church. Abortion is the willful killing of a preborn baby, and it is never a legitimate choice. The powerful prayer on this card is for the conversion of all so-called “pro-abortion Catholics” in public office. We pray that they will immediately stop support for all forms of abortion and infanticide and that they will respect the sanctity of the Holy Eucharist by not receiving Communion until they have reconciled themselves with God and amended their lives to never again act or speak in defense of these grave sins. SHOP NOW

Millionaire Celebrities Sign Support for Planned Parenthood

Thanks to social media, movie stardom is a dying industry. PR teams and copy editors used to protect their millionaire clients by filtering their comments should they say something spectacularly stupid. Then came X/Twitter and movie stars began airing their idiotic ideas instantaneously. Now Americans have a clear picture of the Marxist ideas that so many Hollywood elites hold dear.

As if celebrities can’t give us any more reasons to reject them and their projects, they provide another nail in the coffin. Planned Parenthood had a grand idea to contact 250 millionaires and ask them to sign their names in support of the country’s largest abortion business.

A thousand dead babies in Gaza upsets them. Ten million dead babies in their own backyard do not.

Lists like this are convenient for pro-life Americans who regularly visit the box office. When the next Hollywood blockbuster hits the big screen this summer and it’s costarring a Planned Parenthood supporter, folks who rightfully hate the abortion biz will know exactly which movies aren’t worth the price of admission.
