Week in Review – Betrayal by the USCCB bureaucrats and by political leaders and their police departments
American Life League issued statements last week concerning the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) congratulating Joe Biden on his victory [sic] in the presidential race. Those statements were a big part of news coverage this week. Here are the three statements that have brought a great deal of attention to the Catholic view of abortion:
ALL president Judie Brown expressed her deep dismay by the actions of the USCCB:
The USCCB has affirmed what many of us have suspected for many years, and that is that most Catholic bishops have no problem with a Catholic politician spitting at the face of Christ by supporting the vile murder of the preborn. Joe Biden is such a man; he claims to be Catholic, yet he gives 100 percent support for abortion every day of the week and in every manner of brutality against the innocent. The Catholic bishops have erred, and as a Catholic, I am ashamed of them.
ALL executive vice president Hugh Brown acknowledged that the still-contested presidential race is not over, though it should shock no Catholic that the USCCB has congratulated Joe Biden as the winner:
The reality of the USCCB issuing a statement of congratulations to Joe Biden should not be a surprise to anyone. The USCCB is a feckless spineless conglomerate of dead souls. They are not the descendants of the Apostles. They are what St. John Paul II referred to when he wrote of the Anti-Church. Every Catholic should shake the dust from his feet regarding the USCCB. Listen to them not. We must put our faith in Christ.
ALL executive director and STOPP founder Jim Sedlak expressed the unfortunate, yet true, fact that the USCCB has now become a political entity:
In issuing its congratulations, the USCCB calls on Catholics to COMPROMISE with regards to the law and public policy. For Catholics, the law is the Law of God as expressed in the 10 Commandments. Which commandments should we compromise on? Perhaps God really didn’t mean “Thou shalt not kill.” After all, Biden/Harris have spent all of 2020 telling us that, if elected, they would expand abortion in the United States. They also said they would restrict religious liberty. The clearest takeaway from the USCCB’s statement is the confirmation that they are now a political body issuing a politically correct statement. Calling on Biden/Harris to follow God’s law would have been more in line with the USCCB’s mission of aiding people to save their souls—a mission, it seems, the USCCB has sadly abandoned.
In other news this week, pro-lifers representing Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, Pro-Life San Francisco, and Mercy Missions (from New Orleans) have been protesting at the University of California San Francisco since the summer. They are targeting the UCSF’s fetal organ harvesting program and many of the protests are at Zuckerburg General Hospital—where organ harvesting from live abortion victims take place. Jeff White, head of the Survivors organization, told us, “Attorneys with the Life Legal Defense Foundation were communicating with the Sheriff’s Department just prior to the arrests but they could not be persuaded to halt the 1st Amendment violations. The Sheriff’s Department stated it was a citizen’s arrest and they would move forward!” The police arrested four pro-lifers—the four were taken into custody, cited for trespassing and released.
In other pro-life legal action this week, The Frederick Douglass Foundation and Students for Life of America joined together in a lawsuit filed by Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys after the city of Washington, DC, sent police to prevent peaceful, pro-life individuals from painting BLACK PREBORN LIVES MATTER in temporary paint on a city street, even though other speech was permitted in permanent paint on streets. “City officials were not content to stop a message in temporary paint,” noted Students for Life of America president Kristan Hawkins. “Two students were arrested trying to express in chalk what they were not allowed to say in paint. That kind of viewpoint discrimination cannot be allowed to continue unchallenged.”
There is concern among pro-life leaders that, if the Biden/Harris ticket is eventually certified as the winner of the election, the legal harassment of pro-lifers will increase significantly. It was, after all, Kamala Harris (as attorney general of California) who protected Planned Parenthood and used whatever means she could find to bring David Daleiden and other founders and members of the Center for Medical Research to court for revealing Planned Parenthood’s baby body parts business. Ensuing cases have already found the pro-life defendants guilty, ordering them to pay millions of dollars in judgments, and some of them still may be sent to to prison.
Please ask God to protect not only the preborn babies but also all those who work tirelessly to save them.
ALL in the News – ALL Garners Attention from Top-Tier News Media
Last week, in response to a statement from the USCCB congratulating media-declared president-elect Joe Biden on being a Catholic, American Life League officials released a statement expressing deep concern over the actions taken by the USCCB. Since it’s release, the statement has been featured in a myriad of top-tier media outlets, including Breitbart and The Daily Wire. The release even garnered attention from Fox & Friends at the Fox News Channel.
Hugh Brown, ALL VP, was interviewed on the same subject last week. His interview appeared on One News Now and covered the bishops’ comments as well as comments from the pope.
Every Friday afternoon, the American Life League social media team, Dwain Currier and Katie Brown, host the Friday Live Show on Instagram Live. Last week, the duo discussed the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and the Salvation Army’s stance on abortion. This week’s show will premiere this afternoon on American Life League’s Instagram account. Replays of the show can be found on Facebook.
Twice a week, Judie Brown’s commentaries are distributed to an expansive media list. The list contains over 100 media outlets such as Fox News, The Federalist, Breitbart, and The Daily Caller, among others. Judie’s Tuesday commentary, Vigilance in Our Time, provided readers with a reminder that our hope lies with Christ. Each commentary is also featured as a part of Judie’s recurring column on Renew America.
Jim Sedlak’s Pro-Life Activism from Creation to Death is a weekly talk-radio program on the Radio Maria USA network. The show can be heard live every Friday at noon (Eastern Time) and is repeated on Saturdays (10 PM). Last week’s show discussed the USCCB’s comments on Joe Biden.
Video of the Week – The Salvation Army’s Excuses for Abortion Violence
Every Christmas season, the Salvation Army unleashes its hordes of red buckets in the hopes that holiday shoppers will empty their pockets of loose change. Despite the SA’s admission that “human life is sacred,” it abandons this principle when it comes to preborn human life.
According to its official position statement on abortion, the SA recognizes the “complex reasons” a mother might choose to kill her preborn—rape, incest, and fetal abnormality. We illustrate Salvation Army’s contradiction of principles in this clip from last week’s IGTV Friday Livestream.
Action Item of the Week – Tomorrow is NATIONAL ADOPTION DAY
National Adoption Day is a collective effort to raise awareness of the more than 120,000 children waiting to be adopted from foster care in the United States. A coalition of national partners—the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, Alliance for Children’s Rights and Children’s Action Network—founded National Adoption Day on November 18, 2000.
The first National Adoption Day was inspired by the innovative efforts of Michael Nash, a former presiding judge of Los Angeles County’s Juvenile Court. He opened the court on Saturdays, engaged the volunteer efforts of court personnel and finalized adoptions to reduce the backlog of one of the busiest courts in the nation.
Policymakers, practitioners and advocates have collaborated to plan these annual events in 400 cities across the United States. To date, the dreams of more than 75,000 children in foster care have come true as part of National Adoption Day.
USE NATIONAL ADOPTION DAY TO ENCOURAGE ADOPTION IN YOUR AREA!
Although tomorrow is National Adoption Day, adoption is being celebrated throughout the entire month of November. This is a great opportunity to publicize adoptions in your town.
Find out the adoption agencies in your area, talk to those responsible for the foster care program in your community, and then begin an effort to do what you can to move children from foster care to adoptive homes.
If you think this may be too time consuming, remember that Justice Amy Barrett of the United States Supreme Court has two adopted children among her seven children, and she was able to not only thrive in the situation but to accomplish so much in her legal career to be rated highly qualified for the Supreme Court.
Adoption is one pro-life alternative to abortion!
Pro-life Social Media – “The Last Children of Down Syndrome.”
Pro-abortion/leftist magazine, The Atlantic, has published a cover story titled “The Last Children of Down Syndrome.” Its author interviewed post-abortive mothers in Denmark, where prenatal screening is given to every pregnant mother.

— The Atlantic (@TheAtlantic) November 18, 2020
Sarah Zhang writes about a mother who did NOT choose abortion:
Her experience is not representative of all children with Down syndrome; lack of impulse control is common, but violence is not. Her point, though, was that the image of a happy-go-lucky child so often featured in the media is not always representative either. She wouldn’t have chosen this life: “We would have asked for an abortion if we knew.”
Yeesh. So what’s stopping her from aborting now? Those pesky murder laws?
“If no one with Down syndrome had ever existed or ever would exist—is that a terrible thing?” Yes, yes it would be a terrible thing. Less unconditional love, forgiveness, joy, and triumph. My life would be less without my daughter, our family incomplete.

Eugenics never really went out of style, did it? The eugenicists just realized they didn’t have the tools to accomplish their goals. Now they do.
— Chris Valentine (@cmvalentineb) November 18, 2020
I’m the proudest father of a 21 year old down syndrome female. She’s the best part of my life and I cannot think of my life without her.
— PABLO LEWIN (@PABLO_LEWIN) November 19, 2020
Dear Lord! I can’t with this article. However moving the personal experiences, the underlying message is a subtle whisper of eugenics.
— SouthernLiberty (@CaroleFlodin) November 19, 2020
The wrongness of killing your preborn child isn’t gray, like the eugenicists pretend it to be. It’s black. Always black.
More from The Atlantic:
She loves her child, because how can a mother not? “But you love a person that hits you, bites you? If you have a husband that bites you, you can say goodbye … but if you have a child that hits you, you can’t do anything. You can’t just say, ‘I don’t want to be in a relationship.’ Because it’s your child.” To have a child is to begin a relationship that you cannot sever. It is supposed to be unconditional, which is perhaps what most troubles us about selective abortion—it’s an admission that the relationship can in fact be conditional.
A husband beats his wife because he hates her. A child with a disability does not and cannot control himself.
My sister was born with DS in the mid 60s. No prenatal testing then but the physicians wanted to ship her to an institution w/o mom ever seeing her. Thank God she refused. Methods have changed but not attitudes.

The abortion rate of almost 95% is tragic.
— Ann Marie ✨ (@TheBoudicca) November 19, 2020
Worse than that. It’s wicked.
People are not just biological material. The function of bone and tissue, whether perfect or imperfect, is irrelevant.
— American Life League (@AmerLifeLeague) November 19, 2020
We are BODY AND SOUL—created in His Image.
People with DS remind us of the defects in ourselves. Without them we lose a view of the way humanity ought to be. https://t.co/yrjRGkXFxx
