Pro-Life This Week: June 30, 2023

In the most recent Wednesday STOPP Report, ALL’s researcher Katherine Van Dyke gave STOPP supporters an important call to action.

On a recent visit to Boston, MA, Katherine noticed that known racist and Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger was being honored in an exhibit at the Old South Meeting House, part of the Boston Freedom Train and hosted by the company, Revolutionary Spaces.

Katherine sent a note to Revolutionary Spaces expressing her disgust with Sanger and encouraging them to remove her exhibit. We are asking ALL supporters to join Katherine in encouraging them to remove this statue immediately.

Here is the contact information:

Week in Review – US Bishops Rebuke Catholic Democrats: ‘Abortion is never justified’

Following the anniversary of the Dobbs decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a group of Catholic House Democrats penned a joint statement using their faith to defend abortion.

The deeply offensive statement says in part, “The fundamental tenets of our Catholic faith — social justice, conscience, and religious freedom — compel us to defend a woman’s right to access abortion.”

The statement was signed by 30 House Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, who was excommunicated by her own Bishop in 2022.

“Our faith unfailingly promotes the common good, prioritizes the dignity of every human being and highlights the need to provide a collective safety net to our most vulnerable,” the statement reads. Ironically, they state their desire to safeguard the most vulnerable, which for a House Democrat is nota baby.

In response to the heretical statement, on Wednesday June 28, Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, president of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Bishop Michael F. Burbidge of Arlington (VA), chairman of the USCCB’s Committee on Pro-Life Activities, and Bishop Daniel E. Flores of Brownsville (TX), chairman of the USCCB’s Committee on Doctrine, issued a joint corrective statement

“Members of Congress who recently invoked teachings of the Catholic faith itself as justifying abortion or supporting a supposed right to abortion grievously distort the faith. It is wrong and incoherent to claim that the taking of innocent human life at its most vulnerable stage can ever be consistent with the values of supporting the dignity and wellbeing of those in need.”

The bishops quoted the Catechism stating, “Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception, including through the civil law [Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2270, 2273].”

“Conscience cannot and does not justify the act or support of abortion,” they go on to say. “In fact, conscience ‘must be informed and moral judgment enlightened’ with the Word of God in faith and prayer, and ‘guided by the authoritative teaching of the Church’ [CCC 1783, 1785]. Moreover, the reality that the preborn are our living sisters and brothers is not only a matter of faith, but is attested to by science and sound reason.

“We once again implore and pray for Congress to join us in working toward the true common good by prioritizing authentic, uplifting support for the vulnerable and marginalized, including mothers and families in need.”

American Life League applauds the bishops for speaking out against the scandal brought on the Church by these so-called Catholic lawmakers.

Planned Parenthood’s racist problems began at its origin. Margaret Sanger, PP’s founder, sought to improve society by controlling populations of people whose skin color was not the same as hers. A century later, the organization hasn’t changed, despite efforts to ‘reconcile’ with its racist past. While employees express unfair treatment from their supervisors, CEOs fail to see the inequality in their own ranks. STOPP’s new CEO Report exposes how Planned Parenthood leadership makes way, way more in salary than your typical non-profit CEO. Furthermore, if you are one of the CEOs whose skin color is disfavored by its founder, you’re not on par with most affiliate leaders.
