Pro-Life This Week – January 8, 2021

Week in Review – National elections settled—babies need our support

This week, the settling of the last pieces of the 2020 national election came as no surprise to those who have been following the political world in the United States over the last four years.

From the day that President Trump first won the presidency in 2016, there have been radical and progressive forces whose only intent was to ensure, in any way possible, that he would not get reelected. This, of course, is exactly what happened. In the November election, it became clear that there were a significant number of states where the vote count was questionable and, in some cases, illegal. Not surprisingly, all of the legal challenges were dismissed and, this week, the United States Senate voted to approve the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as the next president and vice-president of the United States.

Biden is the adamantly pro-abortion candidate who has the gall to proclaim he is a faithful Catholic. This subterfuge was made even more ludicrous when, a few days after the November election, Los Angeles Archbishop José Gomez, president of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, issued a statement congratulating Biden for being the second “Catholic” president. Biden is on record saying he wants abortion made legal in the United States—with no restrictions

Kamala Harris, the new vice-president, is on record as saying she wants the new administration to pass regulations that would make it illegal for any state in the country to pass any restrictions on abortion without first obtaining approval of the federal Department of Justice.

In the United States Congress, the Democrats have had control of the House for the last two years, and retained their control in the 2020 elections. Over in the Senate, Republicans controlled the Senate for the last four years and blocked many pro-abortion initiatives and confirmed three appointments to the US Supreme Court.

With this week’s election of two Democrat senators in Georgia, the official make-up of the Senate is 50-50. In case of a tie, Kamala Harris gets to cast the deciding vote.

It is clear that we must turn to God and ask for His help in this dark hour of our country. With God, everything is possible.

Action Item of the Week – ‘Amen’ Has Nothing to Do with Gender

By Susan Ciancio

So be it.

Three simple words. They are the meaning of an even simpler Latin word: Amen.

Yet Democrats in Congress have to mock even that, as we recently saw when Representative Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) ended an “inclusive” prayer at the opening of Congress with the words Amen and “Awoman.” His nonsensical word just illustrates the stupidity that has befallen our country today.

The progressive agenda that is coming soon to our nation as a result of this year’s elections serves only to build the culture of death we have fought so long against.

Gone is respect for the individual person. Gone is respect and even the modicum of protection for preborn babies we had under Trump. Gone is the truth that, barring a chromosomal abnormality, people are either male or female. Gone is the innocence of schoolchildren, many of whom will be subject to sex education classes backed by Planned Parenthood, which now has an administration in its back pocket. Gone may even be our religious freedoms.

Though Biden claims to be Catholic, his actions prove otherwise—especially when he says things like: “As president, I’ll codify Roe v. Wade and protect a woman’s constitutional right to choose.”

Mr. Biden, don’t fool yourself, and stop lying to us. We know the truth. There is no constitutional right to kill a baby. And no good Catholic can advocate for abortion. It’s as simple as that.

Yet this is the man people chose to lead our country. It’s a sad state indeed.

But we always have hope in Christ. And the last thing we need to say to the world in this dire situation is “so be it.”

No, when we say “so be it,” we agree with whatever is presented to us. That’s why, when we receive Communion and the priest holds Christ’s body in front of us, we affirm our belief that Christ is truly present in the Eucharist. We respond: “Amen.” We are telling Christ that we know He is there and that we are receiving Him—body, blood, soul, and divinity.

But looking around at the state of our country today and at the chaos of this week, the last thing we need to say is “so be it” and go back to our lives, burying our heads in the sand. If we do that, we lose to the culture of death for sure.

So what do we do?

We don’t say “Amen” to this secular world, we say “Amen” to God’s will. We know that God is saddened by this broken world that has killed over 60,000,000 preborn babies since Roe v. Wade. We know He is saddened by the violence and hatred. We know He wants us to protect all of His children. This is His will. And it should be ours.

Amen!

So, we don’t roll over and play dead to a society hell-bent on destroying values. We dig in our heels and we stand up tall. We summon the courage the Apostles received when the Holy Spirit breathed upon them at Pentecost. We vow to never stop fighting for the citizens—born and preborn—of this great country of ours. For it is when we stop fighting that we lose.

Starting today, we must resolve to pray more and pray more fervently. We must take action in our families and communities and make our voices peacefully but adamantly heard. We teach our children, our friends, our families, and those in our communities the truths of our faith. We allow Christ’s light and goodness to shine through us and our good works. We make a difference and an impact with our words and actions every moment of every day. We treat others as Christ would treat them, and we help create something good in the evil of today.

Being the light of Christ is the only way we will get through these dark times. God expects no less of us. Indeed, He commands in Matthew: “Your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”

And to this we must say “Amen”—a truly logical response.

Pro-life Social Media – ‘Clean Your Own Racist House’: Planned Parenthood Tweet Pretends to Be against Racism

What do Wednesday’s events in DC have to do with white supremacy? None, as far as we can tell. But there are minds so irreversibly fractured by leftist messaging that they see evil where none exists and see good where only evil exists.

If Trump has encouraged white supremacy, then Planned Parenthood ought to be hanging his portrait in its bloodstained hallways. After all, 2020 saw at least 19 admissions of racism by Planned Parenthood affiliates

We’ll let Steve Ertelt over at LifeNews have the last word.
