Pro-life this Week: November 12, 2021

Week in Review – Attacks in Congress on preborn and teens in schools

The rules concerning the distribution of the abortion pill (mifepristone) regimen so women can do at-home abortions continue on the path to wanton destruction of millions of human beings before birth. The original rules called for in-person dispensing, among other requirements, to improve safety for the mother (babies have no safety option—they die). Howeverin April, the FDA suspended enforcement of these rules while they studied the efficacy of the restrictions at the behest of the abortion lobby and abortion radicals in Congress. The Susan B. Anthony List reports that the FDA made the following announcement last week: FDA has been working diligently to conduct this review (of changing the abortion pill rules), will continue to do so, and anticipates completing its review by December 16, 2021. FDA will communicate the agency’s determinations … upon completion of FDA’s review. Thus, just a week before Christmas, the FDA is expected to okay abortion-by-mail in the United States. Since the FDA is part of the Department of Health and Human Services, and since the DHHS secretary is Xavier Becerra, a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood, the chances that the FDA will not approve the deadly rule change are zero.

In reviewing Congressional spending billssuch as the recently passed Infrastructure Bill and the soon-to-be-voted-on Build Back Better Billit is critical to understand that all the spending programs established by the bills can be used to provide money for abortions and abortion-related activity unless the use of funds for these purposes is explicitly excluded from funding. This is critical when massive spending bills are introduced and passed without wording that explicitly excludes abortion. Pro-life groups have sounded alarms about the multi-trillion dollar bills being approved in Congress without these restricting amendments.

CBNNEWS reported yesterday that the state of Vermont has given up on teaching our children about right and wrong as it applies to having sex. There is no religion in America that condones intimate sexual activity between unmarried minors. Yet, the news agency reported yesterday, that Vermont has become the first state to require all school districts to offer free condoms in all secondary schools, grades 7 thru 12, according to multiple media reports. The controversial idea was mandated under a new state law and has been labeled the “condom availability program.”

The law reads: “In order to prevent or reduce unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases, each school district shall make condoms available to all students in its secondary schools, free of charge. School district administrative teams, in consultation with school district nursing staff, shall determine the best manner in which to make condoms available to students. At a minimum, condoms shall be placed in locations that are safe and readily accessible to students, including the school nurse’s office.”

One news report stated that the school is getting the condoms from Planned Parenthood of Northern New England. No mention was made of what the schools are paying for the condoms.

This kind of a law is dangerous for the students who engage in sexual activity and for the babies who are created as a result of the failure of condoms. Of course, the horror of this program is that it is condoning our children living lives immersed in sexual sin. It is putting the immortal souls of our children in danger. No school should ever have the right to do that.

ALL in the News – Jim Sedlak Debates Pro-Abort, Dr. Rashad Richey; ALL Statement on Biden and Pope Francis Receives National Coverage

Recently, ALL’s executive director, Jim Sedlak, participated in a debate on the show, “Indisputable with Dr. Rashad Richey.” The two debated why all Planned Parenthood locations should be shut down.

On October 29, ALL officials released a press statement on President Biden’s meeting with Pope Francis. ALL’s executive vice president, Hugh Brown, stated that “Joe Biden is no more Catholic than is Lucifer.” The statement was featured in nearly a dozen articles, the most notable being from The Boston Pilot,  Right Wing WatchCBN News, and Charisma News

Twice a week, Judie Brown’s commentaries are distributed to an expansive media list. The list contains over 100 media outlets such as Fox News, The Federalist, Breitbart, and The Daily Caller, among others. Judie’s Tuesday commentary, Babies on the Margins of Society, appeared on the ALL home page. Each commentary is also featured as a part of Judie’s recurring column on Renew America.

Jim Sedlak’s Pro-Life Activism from Creation to Death is a weekly talk-radio program on the Radio Maria USA network. The show can be heard live every Friday at noon (Eastern Time). Each show features an update on what is happening in the pro-life world, and frequently guests will appear on the show to provide first-hand updates and experiences.

Video of the Week – The World’s Most Premature Baby to Ever Survive

At 21 weeks in utero, a baby is about the length of a carrot—incredibly small, with a near zero chance of survival for a premature birth. Curtis is the miracle who beat those odds, having been born at 21 weeks and 1 day.  On Wednesday, the Guinness World Records recognized Curtis as the world’s most premature baby to ever survive. Today he’s a thriving one-year old.

Action Item of the Week – Supreme Court in 19 days

SCOTUS will hear oral arguments in the Dobbs case on Wednesday, December 1. Today we bring you an update from the office of the attorney general in Mississippi. The Dobbs case concerns a Mississippi law prohibiting most abortions after 15 weeks gestation. THIS UPDATE INCLUDES INFORMATION ON HOW YOU CAN HOLD A “WATCH PARTY” ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY.

Although many groups, including the Mississippi attorney general’s office, are talking about using this case to overturn Roe v. Wade, American Life League asks you to pray that the justices go further and use this case to declare that, legally, every human being’s life begins at his or her creation, that a right to abortion does not exist and that every abortion is illegal—without exception.

Here are excerpts from the Mississippi attorney general’s office communication to pro-life groups:

Dear Pro-Life Friends,

I am reaching out on behalf of Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch, who is defending Mississippi’s 15 week pro-life law in the Dobbs case before the U.S. Supreme Court on December 1. We want to thank you for all your encouragement, prayers, and support of Mississippi’s case.

If you plan to be in D.C. for oral argument day on Dec. 1, we invite you to attend Mississippi’s Empower Women, Promote Life rally outside of the Supreme Court. We are asking attendees to gather at 8 a.m. eastern and we will rally until arguments conclude and Attorney General Fitch addresses the crowd (likely until noon). You will hear from a variety of speakers, including several leaders of the pro-life movement and members of Congress, and we will even be able to listen live to the arguments being made inside the Court! We encourage you to join us in wearing royal blue and offer a positive, winsome witness for life.

Learn more and find more resources to help spread the word at attorneygenerallynnfitch.com/dobbs. Feel free to share the invitation you will find on the website in your email newsletters and social media channels. And don’t forget to use #EmpowerWomenPromoteLife in your social posts.

If you already know how many people you will be bringing, go ahead and let us know HERE. RSVP is certainly not required, but helpful to us as we plan.

If you cannot be in D.C. on Dec. 1, we invite you to sign-up for a watch party kit. Host a watch party at your school, church or home and be part of this historic day. Sign up at www.ago.state.ms.us/dobbs-watch-party and receive the kit via email on Nov. 28.

Pro-life Social Media – November is National Adoption Month

National Adoption Month was launched to bring national attention to the need for adoptive families for children in the US foster-care system.  Pro-life advocates have long celebrated adoption as a life-affirming alternative to abortion violence. Adoption recognizes the dignity of the child, motherhood, and the family as core to a child’s well-being.

Many adoption families are celebrating Adoption Month by sharing stories and photos on Instagram. Below are just a handful of testimonies that illustrate the beauty of adoption.
