Pro-Life Group Files IRS Complaints against Planned Parenthood
By Katherine Van Dyke
In case you missed it, 40 Days for Life announced last week that it has filed an IRS complaint against Planned Parenthood of Sarasota, Florida, alleging that it violated its 501(c)(3) status by hosting a political event for the former Harris/Walz campaign back in October/November 2024.
The Christian Post reported that while praying outside Planned Parenthood, 40 Days for Life members took notice of a worker walking into Planned Parenthood of Sarasota’s building wearing a Harris/Walz shirt during the 2024 election season. The article went on to detail the actual political event held within the Planned Parenthood facility:
The event, titled “Phone Bank at Love Art Repeat,” consisted of individuals making calls during shifts lasting from one to two hours. Individuals worked in a room with a Harris/Walz sign displayed at the entrance, which was later removed the following morning and reposted again a few days later.
On Nov. 1, 2024, the Planned Parenthood chapter in Florida once again provided space for the call center, and five to 10 people were observed entering the space. As 40 Days for Life noted in its complaint, activity at the local Planned Parenthood continued until Nov. 3, 2024.
40 Days for Life filed this complaint to show that Planned Parenthood of Sarasota violated the law under the IRS’ restriction on 501(c)(3) endorsement and engagement in political activities.
Shawn Carney, CEO of 40 Days for Life, stated that the organization filed another complaint last summer against Planned Parenthood of Great Rivers for the same reasons, stating that the abortion organization set up its mobile abortion/contraception/vasectomy bus a few miles away from the Democratic National Convention in Chicago under its 501(c)(3) status.
40 Days is asking the IRS to investigate Planned Parenthood’s involvement with the Harris/Walz campaign. As taxpayer money continues to financially support the abortion organization, 40 Days for Life points out that with these actions, our money is not only supporting the slaughter of children in these instances but specifically going toward political campaigns for enemies of life. It can be best summarized in 40 Days for Life’s most recent statement, “This is the SECOND complaint we’ve filed just in the last few months . . . and another reason Planned Parenthood doesn’t deserve another dime out of your paycheck.” (emphasis added)
We concur with this statement and hope that the IRS will look thoroughly into these complaints.
Former Planned Parenthood President Passes Away after Battle with Cancer
By Katie Brown
Former Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards has passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Richards was most known for her Obama-era work with Planned Parenthood, working with that administration to expand access to birth control and abortion under the Affordable Care Act.
Richards also led Planned Parenthood Action Fund, bringing the abortion giant to the political stage and paving the way for most of the organization’s involvement with elections and ballot initiatives. Even after leaving Planned Parenthood in 2018, she made abortion her number one priority as she moved into more political work.
There is no doubt her long career with Planned Parenthood caused much destruction and death to the women and babies who fell victim to the abortion cult.
STOPP invites you to join us in prayer for the repose of Cecile’s soul, for her family, and for all the lives affected by the scourge of abortion and cancer.
Virginia Pro-Lifers: Act Now to Stop HJR 1
By Katie Brown
A Planned Parenthood backed abortion ballot initiative is creeping its way through the Virginia state legislature. HJR 1 is a state amendment that would enact the “fundamental right to reproductive freedom” into the state constitution. Right now, Virginia Democrats would like this to be on the ballot in 2026.
Virginia already has some of the most liberal abortion laws in the country, allowing abortion at any time for any reason using loopholes in the current code of law. Virginia’s former governor also famously said that if a baby survives an abortion, the family and the doctor would decide whether or not to proceed. He stated, “The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”
Virginia, STOPP’s home state, is in desperate need of pro-lifers who will speak up to stop this law. Judie Brown, ALL’s president, stated in an email to pro-lifers, “We must do everything we can to convince our state lawmakers and fellow Virginians that the right to life, not the elimination of life, is a cherished American value that should never be swept under the political rug of the abortion cartel.”
Please pray and act to stop this. Visit whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov to find the name and contact information for your legislator. Then write or call and respectfully voice your opinion.
If they respond to you, forward the responses to us so we can keep track of them.
We must work together to defeat HJR 1 and protect the babies!
