Pro-Life This Week – September 12, 2025

Week in Review

The Assassination of Charlie Kirk

Usually my column in Pro-Life This Week consists of a Planned Parenthood update, a project my team is working on, or an action item we have for our supporters to do. But I’d like to deviate from this for just this week and share my thoughts with you on the assassination of conservative activist and pro-life American Charlie Kirk.

On Wednesday, September 10, we all witnessed the horrific and senseless assassination of Charlie Kirk. Whether we wanted to see them or not, the graphic videos and photos circulated without warning and revealed the awful truth.

Charlie was murdered for his Christian faith and for his unwavering courage in standing up for the truth. He often defended the preborn and did so without exception. He encouraged a new generation to debate and have real conversations about the issues affecting our nation. He had a deep love of faith, family, and the Christian values that built our great nation.

We all are thinking the same thing: How did we get here? And where do we go from here? How has our nation reached such a breaking point that violence has become part of our normal weekly news cycle?

I share the same sentiments as most Catholics right now. We are up against evil forces, and people who have such hardened hearts to the truth will stop at nothing to carry out evil. When people celebrate the death of innocent babies in the womb, we should not expect them to value human life at any other stage.

As St. John Paul II once said, “A society will be judged on the basis of how it treats its weakest members; and among the most vulnerable are surely the unborn and the dying.”

Our society is sick. We need the divine healer: Jesus.

Please do not allow anger to overcome you. Remember, we know exactly how this all ends. Jesus has won the war. Here in our earthly battle, we wage war for souls. The devil is waging the same war, but we have much more powerful resources on our side.

Cling to your rosary. It is our greatest spiritual weapon. Pray and pray often. Remain in a state of grace and receive the Eucharist often. And more than anything, do not be afraid.

As St. John Paul II also once said, we are an Easter people. Have hope, and do not lose it.

I am praying for each of you, and I ask you to join me in praying for our nation, for the repose of Charlie’s soul, and for the family he leaves behind.

God bless you all. Onward, for Life!

St. Thérèse of Lisieux: Small Deeds, Big Love teaches young children about the short and devout life of St. Thérèse and how they can implement her Little Way into their own lives. This lesson discusses St. Thérèse’s Little Way and offers concrete examples for how your kids can take action now to stand up for others so they can grow in faith and love. These important concepts help build that pro-life foundation that kids need so that, as they grow, they also grow in understanding about the value of the preborn, those with disabilities, the elderly, and anyone else whom society deems unworthy of life. When children truly understand that we all have worth and dignity, they can better resist the temptations of the culture of death and can become advocates for the vulnerable. ORDER HERE

A Person’s a Person, No Matter How Small: Inaccurate science leads to the dehumanizing of preborn babies. From the moment the sperm fertilizes the egg, a new human being is created and begins growing exponentially each day. Containing a scientifically accurate and descriptive illustration of a baby’s development, this brochure not only takes you on a five-week journey with the baby as you watch him grow, but it identifies the language used by some in the scientific community who strive to obfuscate the truth about when a human being’s life truly begins—a tactic that results in more abortions and more dead babies. SHOP NOW

President Trump Honors Blessed Mother in Social Media Post

September 8 is the celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of Mary. While not a solemnity like the Immaculate Conception, this special day inspires Catholics to celebrate with Mass, cake, and the singing of “Happy Birthday.” President Trump, who is not Catholic, took to his Truth Social to post a Happy Birthday message honoring Our Lady:

Which was summarily reposted by the vice president:

You know who has never mentioned the Blessed Mother’s birthday in a social media post? Self-professed devout Catholics like Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden.

It already is normal. People must learn to “be not afraid.”
