Pro-life this Week: March 11, 2022

The American Center for Law and Justice recently tackled a proposed Maryland law that would legalize infanticide. The group analyzed Maryland Senate Bill 669 —the Pregnant Person’s Freedom Act of 2022.

The bill proposed several disturbing and frightening legal changes, such as changing “woman” to “pregnant person” and allowing infanticide up to four weeks after birth. It even went so far as to propose that mothers who were arrested or prosecuted for killing their baby could then sue the police for monetary damages.

ACLJ updated the analysis on March 9, stating the hearing for the bill had been delayed after Maryland Right to Life shared their findings with the sponsor of the bill. And not only that, but the language that would have allowed infanticide was to be removed.

However, the fight is not over yet. ACLJ stated: “There is an identical bill being pushed by the Maryland House: H.B. 626. We will be submitting written testimony today on H.B. 626 and oral testimony at its hearing on Friday. The fate of H.B. 626 may directly impact whether S.B. 669 ever makes it to a committee hearing, which is why our testimony is so necessary”.

If you are a resident of Maryland, contact your state senator and tell him or her to oppose S.B. 669.

In Visalia, CA, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte had planned to open a new clinic but was stopped by pro-life residents.

PP had planned to purchase or lease a building from project developer, the Orosco Group. However, after concerns were raised by members of the community, a public hearing was set to discuss the subject.

The Visalia Times Delta reported that, facing pressure from the pro-life community, the Orosco Group requested the hearing be postponed. The hearing has since been removed from the proposed agenda.

The efforts to keep PP out of Visalia were spearheaded by Tulare-Kings Right to Life. “Our love for our neighbors is why we so strongly oppose efforts to perform abortions here in Visalia,” Patricia June Boon, a leader of Tulare-Kings Right to Life, wrote in an opinion piece for the Times-Delta.

The democratic mayor of Alexandria, VA, recently proposed making March 10 “Abortion Provider Appreciation Day.” The proposal was pulled soon after it was made, as pro-life Virginias spoke out against the atrocity.

Bishop Burbidge of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, VA, released a statement calling on Alexandria residents to “express their opposition to this proclamation.”

Pro-lifers, Catholics and Christians alike, answered the call by drowning out any support for the proposal. Faced with backlash from Virginians, the mayor pulled the proposal.

Last week, the Marian Blue Wave announced its intention for March: Nebraska’s two mega-Planned Parenthood facilities. The announcement was sent to the nearly 5,000 prayer partners and a list of local media affiliates. The announcement was also posted to various Patch sites, found here. Along with media attention, the initiative also received a letter of endorsement from Bishop James Conley of the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln, NE.

Once a week, ALL’s Celebrate Life Magazine posts an editor’s blog on its website. The content can range from helpful advice to deep dives into current events. This week’s blog was picked up as an op-ed by conservative news outlet LifeSiteNews.

The bi-monthly STOPP Report was published on Wednesday, March 9. The headline article, “Checking Facts”, points out the hypocrisy on the website “FactCheck,” giving PP a higher rating than pro-life group Live Action. The STOPP Report also details a heart-breaking 911 call following a botched abortion, as well as a detailed breakdown of pro-life happenings around the country

We get a lot of inquiries through our Inbox regarding the American Cancer Society and whether pro-life advocates can, in good conscience, donate to it. To settle the issue, we explain the ACS’ anti-life position in this video short.

If you are a resident of Maryland, contact your state senator and tell him or her to oppose S.B. 669.

The bill has been delayed and is already facing tough scrutiny. Let’s make sure it never sees the light of day. If you live in Maryland, contact your state senator and tell him or her to oppose S.B. 669!

Pediatrician Appreciation Day? It doesn’t exist. Proctologist Appreciation Day? Nil. Abortionist Appreciation Day? Of course, but it’s “Abortion Provider” Appreciation Day, so it has to include the deadly organizations that promote the killing—and not just the hands that do the literal killing. Funny how the most ordinary of medical professions appear not to have a nationally recognized day of appreciation, but the folks who swear that abortion violence is no big deal demand a special day for baby killers.

Below are some of the worst takes on Twitter.

Wait. Now “Clinic Escorts” are abortion providers?

Celebrating the nation’s most deadly serial killers is a new low for abortion violence advocates. Their attempts at destigmatizing the practice of child sacrifice have the unintended side effect of drawing attention to the bodies of babies and mothers discarded by the abortion industry.

“Brave and hardworking.”

Running into a fire to save children is brave. Abortionists decapitating preborn children, that’s demonic.
