Young pro-life pilgrims wrap up rewarding summer

American Life League gratefully welcomes the return of some 50 volunteer 2005 Crusade for Life walkers, who spent the past ten weeks trekking across the United States spreading a simple, non-negotiable truth of the Catholic faith: You can’t be Catholic and pro-abortion.

“We are extremely proud of these young adults who sacrificed their summer to defend the body and blood of Christ in the Eucharist and to protect preborn children in the womb,” said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. “Their dedication and commitment should be an example to all Christians about truly putting faith into action.”

The success of the 2004 inaugural Crusade for Life walk across the northeastern section of the country inspired a return to that region this year, as well as two additional routes in California and the Great Lakes area for the summer of 2005. More than 50 young adults volunteered for this year’s campaign to spread the truths about the incompatibility of abortion and the teachings of the Catholic Church. Despite the fact that a few dioceses did not welcome the young activists, the overall campaign was well received.

“These summer walks are very effective in presenting our message in a loving, yet firm manner,” said Joseph Starrs, director of American Life League’s Crusade for the Defense of Our Catholic Church. “Sadly, many Catholics are gravely misinformed about their professed faith, especially as it pertains to abortion and the Holy Eucharist. The young Crusade walkers offer the clear and simple truth that cannot be denied: support of abortion and reception of Holy Communion do not mix.”

Since launching the Crusade in January 2003, American Life League has conducted numerous ad campaigns, organized protests, and activated Catholics across the country to encourage the bishops of the Church to act on this grave matter.
