Student Leader of Colorado Personhood Movement to Speak at ALL Conference

Washington, D.C. (23 December 2008) – Twenty-one year old law student Kristi Burton, the architect of the Colorado Amendment 48 Personhood campaign, will be a featured speaker at American Life League's Training and Activism Week and Personhood Conference, Jan. 21-23, 2009.

Burton reignited the personhood movement when she spearheaded a campaign that collected an unprecedented number of signatures to put the historic initiative, a proposed amendment to the Colorado state constitution, on the ballot this past November. 103,000 signatures were collected which far exceeded the 76,000 required.

Burton became the spokeswoman for the Colorado initiative – the first of its kind at the state level. Her work with the campaign has inspired 16 states to pursue similar personhood proposals. Concurrently, American Life League continues to pursue personhood at the federal level for all human beings from creation until death.  The Federal Human Personhood Amendment is the cornerstone of ALL activity and is reflective of the ALL mission.

"Kristi has inspired the entire pro-life movement with her commitment to the preborn," said Marie Hahnenberg, project director for the Personhood Conference. "She sets a beautiful example for people of all ages to get involved in pro-life initiatives in their home states. Kristi's voice will be one of the great highlights of our Personhood Conference and we're honored to have her."

The Personhood Conference on Jan. 23 will also feature ALL president Judie Brown; Ambassador Alan Keyes; David Bereit of 40 Days for Life; Lila Rose, president of Live Action Films; and reknowned pro-life blogger Jill Stanek.

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.  For more information or press inquiries, please contact Katie Walker at 540.659.4942.
