“American Life League’s Pro-life Memorial Day is a call to people across the nation to pray fervently for the end to abortion,” said Erik Whittington, director of youth outreach for American Life League. On October 1, pro-life Americans will be wearing T-shirts depicting the U.S. Supreme Court building as the “Tomb of the Unborn.”
“Abortion was decriminalized in this country because of the actions of the Supreme Court in the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton rulings of 1973,” said Whittington. “Because of the toll abortion has taken on our country, it is fitting to compare the Supreme Court building to a tomb.”
Over the past 34 years, more than 48 million babies have been violently ripped from their mothers’ wombs. “That’s why it is so imperative for pro-lifers across the nation to pray at Planned Parenthood facilities, in front of their schools, and in front of city halls, courthouses and state capitol buildings on this day,” said Whittington.
October 1 is the first day of the Supreme Court’s annual session. Every year, American Life League marks the start of the session with a day dedicated to the memory of the preborn. American Life League has additional information available online.
“There are memorials all over the nation dedicated to heroes who died fighting for this country,” said Whittington. “It is absolutely shameful that this memorial is necessary, because abortion is truly America’s self-inflicted wound.”
