Planned Parenthood Investigated for Child Rape Cover-Up

Washington, D.C. (16 December 2008) In the wake of a sting by a campus pro-life organization, Live Action Films, Planned Parenthood of Indiana is under investigation for failing to report the statutory rape of a minor.

The development comes a week after American Life League launched a campaign activating thousands of supporters around the country to demand an investigation of the incident. On Dec. 13, Jim Sedlak, director of ALL's Stop Planned Parenthood project, joined a group of Indiana residents at a press conference in Indianapolis asking Attorney General Steve Carter to investigate the 35 Planned Parenthood affiliates in the state of Indiana.

"Child molesters and rapists have a true friend in Planned Parenthood," said Sedlak. "It's time this organization is exposed, investigated and condemned for its role in enabling this devastating and heartbreaking abuse. Planned Parenthood is throwing women and children back into the hands of their abusers."

Live Action Films has released two investigative videos as part of its Mona Lisa Project. The first, filmed at Planned Parenthood of Bloomington, shows a counselor coaching a woman posing as a 13-year-old girl on how to avoid state law and protect her 31-year-old rapist.

The second, filmed the same day, June 24, 2008, shows a Planned Parenthood counselor in Indianapolis telling a girl how to protect her rapist and where to get an abortion to bypass Indiana's parental consent laws.

"We're thankful Attorney General Carter has decided to investigate," Sedlak said. "Now the question is, how rampant is this abuse across the nation? How many children are trapped due to this organization's active role in covering up child sex abuse and rape?"

The attorney general's investigation carries the threat of criminal prosecution. The investigation will reportedly seek to answer whether Planned Parenthood instructed the counselors to ignore state law.

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown.
