The 2008 Report on Planned Parenthood Facilities in the United States shows the nation’s largest abortion chain has decreased its total number of facilities, but increased the number of facilities performing medical abortions.
“This new focus shift from surgical to dangerous medical abortions shows Planned Parenthood values profit over the lives of the women,” said Marie Hahnenberg, a researcher for American Life League. “Planned Parenthood is giving women poisonous drugs to kill their preborn children and sending them home to finish the abortion – frightened and alone. Planned Parenthood is raking money in hand over fist at the expense of women poisoned and children killed.”
Two drugs given in a so-called “medication abortion” procedure include Mifepristone (Mifeprex) or Methotrexate and Misoprostol (Cytotec). The first drug, Mifepristone is taken to starve the preborn baby to death.
After the abortion drug is given, Planned Parenthood gives the mother a second drug called Misoprostol to take home with her. This drug causes contractions and the mother will give birth to her dead baby.
Last year the University of Michigan conducted a study which showed Mifepristone (Mifeprex) and Misoprostol (Cytotec) may be linked to the death of at least eight women. Other deaths have also been reported around the world.
