Washington, D.C. (07 August 2008) – American Life League congratulates the Knights of Columbus on its 126th annual convention this week and commends Supreme Knight Carl Anderson for his leadership and continued dedication to the protection of preborn children.
"The Knights of Columbus stand as a visible sign that we can build a culture of life," said Jen Catelli, media relations director for American Life League. "As the Knights go back to their everyday lives, they will be an example to everyone that Catholic men need to be at the forefront of the battle for the lives of preborn children. Carl Anderson reminds us that you cannot be both Catholic and pro-choice."
Anderson's 68-minute address to the more than 1,000 Knights and their families at the convention challenged Catholic men to be defenders of the preborn, to be examples of Christian fatherhood and to oppose all pro-abortion politicians.
"Imagine if this year millions of Catholic voters simply say no," Anderson said. "No to every candidate of every political party who supports abortion. It's time we stop accommodating pro-abortion politicians, and it's time we start demanding that they accommodate us. What candidate or political party can withstand the loss of millions of Catholic voters in this election or the next?"
American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.
