Forget Punxsutawney; watch Phill in Kansas

"We need an early springtime in this country, and Kansas attorney general Phill Kline is doing his best to encourage it by turning up the heat on Planned Parenthood," said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League. "Planned Parenthood, however, simply wants to hide in the shadows and avoid the sunlight that Kline wants to shine on the organization's dirty little secrets."

Kline wants to hold Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers accountable for their failure to report child abuse – sexual activity involving minors, otherwise known as statutory rape. "But," said Sedlak, "the abortion chain is fighting his every step, bringing in various allies who say bad things will happen if Planned Parenthood is called to accountability and criminals are brought to justice."

Sedlak said Planned Parenthood attempts to saturate young people with sex and drive a wedge between teenagers and their parents. "Parental rights, according to Planned Parenthood, simply do not exist. The controversial organization steadfastly refuses to cooperate with any investigation of illegal activity – and underage sex is illegal – by claiming that confidentiality overrides both parental interests and law enforcement interests."

A note on the web site of Planned Parenthood's Kansas affiliate calls Kline's investigation an "inquisition" and refers to the "covenant between a doctor and his/her patient."

"How ironic that Planned Parenthood would use the word 'covenant,' a word whose rich history in the Judeo-Christian tradition signifies a sacred bond between God and man. There is nothing sacred about dividing a family or protecting predators who take advantage of young girls," said Sedlak. "We salute Phill Kline for his efforts, and encourage him to keep up the fight."
