Washington, D.C. (10 February 2009) – Judie Brown president of American Life League, issued the following statement on the death of Eluana Englaro, the 38-year-old comatose Italian woman who was denied food and water for four days until her death Feb. 9.
"We are deeply saddened to learn of the murder of Eluana Englaro.
"In memory of Eluana, Terri Schiavo who preceded her, and all our brothers and sisters who have been objectified and heartlessly murdered by acts of euthanasia, we renew our battle against this disease of imposed death that has gripped our world.
"Abortion, euthanasia, contraception, unethical stem cell research, human cloning and other dreadful acts – all end in death. All strip the human being of his or her inherent dignity as a person; all twist the gift of life into a cheap commodity devalued at will by the selfish whims of a world driven by arrogance and moral relativism.
"Eluana's story must awaken the complacent from their slumber. The culture of death wins only if we let it. We pray for the repose of the soul of Eluana Englaro, for her family and friends, and for the strength to stand and prevail, by the grace of God, against this grave injustice."
