Washington, DC: In recognition of Black History Month, American Life League’s Culture of Life Studies Program has released a new online educational resource entitled “I Have A Dream,” developed specifically to forward Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s deeply held pro-life convictions about the dignity of every human being, black or white. The free CLSP educational lesson is available here. Author Mary Kizior states: “African-Americans suffered for over 100 years because of racism, violence, and discrimination. Dr. King said that everyone—whites and blacks—must act immediately in order to change the laws and attitudes of the country. He reminded us that we can’t sit back and wait for other people to change the world; the responsibility to change our culture lies with us, right here, right now.”
The developers of the CLSP resource echo the sentiments of a new guard of civil rights activists in the African-American community, including Dr. Alveda King (niece of Dr. Martin Luther King) and Ryan Bomberger, cofounder of the Radiance Foundation. Bomberger’s most recent initiative to further the black community in its civil rights struggle is entitled “Too Many Aborted.” According to Bomberger:
Abortion is the number one killer of black persons in the United States. More than HIV. More than diabetes. More than heart disease. More than cancer. Abortion snuffs out more black lives than all other causes of death combined.
Mary Kizior is a content developer for American Life League’s Culture of Life Studies Program, which stresses the culture of life as an integral part of every academic discipline.
