Political Powerhouse Brings Legal and Religious Expertise to Pro-Life Leadership Role

(August 31, 2023 – Fredericksburg, Virginia) American Life League’s newly named director of STOPP International, Ed Martin, is certainly comfortable defending life in the public eye. An attorney, Vatican appointee, and national radio host, Martin brings broad experience to his role leading STOPP International, American Life League’s initiative dedicated to educating people about Planned Parenthood’s culture of death and focused on shutting down its facilities.
American Life League executive vice president Hugh Brown spoke highly of the organization’s newest appointment saying, “Ed Martin represents outstanding Catholic leadership in an hour when the enemy is unleashed without shame or fear of consequence to their perversity. On one hand, fighting “for the babies” is what it’s all about. On the other hand, Martin’s expansive pedigree makes him a power player who can move the defense of preborn life into courtrooms, hospital board rooms, and legislative chambers.
Martin is a lawyer with advanced degrees in medical ethics and philosophy. He was handpicked by renowned conservative activist attorney Phyllis Schlafly to succeed her as president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles, the Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund, and America’s Future.
Many know Martin as the author of The New York Times bestseller The Conservative Case for Trump, which he coauthored with Schlafly and Brett Decker. He is a former CNN political contributor who served as the Missouri Republican Party chairman, on the Republican National Committee, and as a judicial clerk in the Federal Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
“Planned Parenthood knows that pressure on politicians leads to action for them,” said Ed Martin, “and we have to use smart politics to get good policy because, more than ever, life is at stake.”
Though he is known as a political “mover and shaker,” it is certainly not all about politics for Martin. A pontifical appointee to the Synod of Bishops for America in Rome under Pope John Paul II, Martin also held the post as director of the Human Rights Office in the Catholic Archdiocese of St. Louis.
“I remember hearing St. John Paul II in St. Louis when he said, ‘If you want peace, work for justice, and if you want justice defend life,’” said Ed Martin, “and I have never stopped feeling that life and the fight for life is at the heart of my faith life.”
Martin has long been known for his staunch defense of human beings. He is serving his tenth year as president of the Republican National Coalition for Life. As host of the Pro-America Report podcast and The Movement radio program, Martin regularly introduces pro-life topics and upholds the sanctity of human life.
“Americans have watched as life has been attacked in law, in healthcare, in business, and even into our faith and families,” said Martin. “The idea that the pro-aborts will ‘leave us alone’ is false: They are coming for life in every corner of our lives, and we must fight back in every way we can. Planned Parenthood is the evil army used to attack us. We must stand up to them now and never give up.”
