(July 16, 2025 – Fredericksburg, Virginia)  American Life League declares a “win for women and children” in West Virginia after the US Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit dismissed a major mifepristone manufacturer’s attempt to strike down West Virginia’s protections for the preborn. In a 2-1 decision released on July 15, 2025, the court ruled that the FDA’s approval of the abortion pill drug does not override West Virginia law.

Katie Brown Xavios, American Life League’s national director, issued the following statement in response to the court’s action:

This summer’s two major life-affirming wins for women and their preborn children are with the states. As states seek to protect women from the deceptive and deadly practices of the abortion industry, they now have full reign to defund Planned Parenthood, and as a result of the 4th Circuit ruling against a major abortion pill manufacturer, states can now also ban the abortion pill. This is a very encouraging sign. If we cannot rely on our federal lawmakers to protect the preborn and their mothers, then we will encourage the states to do it!

Unfortunately, there remains the problem of the countless rogue abortion pill providers illegally shipping pills into all 50 states. This new ruling, however, points to an encouraging trend on the part of states willing to take a stand against these deadly pills.

Making America a true pro-life country, however, won’t happen in the halls of justice. It will only happen in hearts that are won over for the love of both preborn children and their mothers.
