Reacting to the decision by federal judge Edward Korman to order the federal government to immediately make the abortifacient morning-after-pill available to minors without a prescription, Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League, issued the following statement:
American Life League is dismayed at the lack of concern for our young people that was apparent in today’s decision by U.S. District Judge Korman. The morning-after-pill is a potent drug that causes changes to a young girl’s body.
The morning-after pill is essentially a mega-dose of the standard birth control pill. We know that the pill can cause blood clots, stroke, paralysis, and even death. Just yesterday, LifeSiteNews.com carried a story about a woman who took the birth control pill for six months and then had a stroke, caused by the pill, that left her paralyzed. No long-term studies have been done on the ultimate effect of continued usage of the drug by young girls.
In addition to the harm done to the lives and bodies of young girls who will now be free to buy this drug any time they wish, the morning-after-pill works 57 percent of the time by ending the life of a newly created human being during his first week of life.
American Life League calls for the Obama Administration to appeal this decision and to work to get the morning-after-pill off the market completely.
