Washington, D.C. (22 September 2008) – American Life League president Judie Brown praised actor Brad Pitt Monday for releasing one of the most pro-life statements ever to come out of Hollywood.
Pitt remarked:
"Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn't harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality."
Pitt, famously the father of six children and partner of Angelia Jolie, has been outspoken on many political causes. He released the remarks recently when he donated $100,000 dollars to defeat California's Proposition 8 – an initiative that would overturn the California Supreme Court's legalization of gay marriage.
Further, Brown invited Pitt to contribute to the advancement of human equality by contributing to the pro-life movement.
"Perhaps (Pitt) is a pro-life spokesperson who has yet to realize that his recent statements put him in the category of a man who understands the dignity of the human person," Brown said.
"We realize that this statement is unfortunately made in favor of same sex marriage, but the irony is that this very same statement could have been made by Mr. Pitt in defense of innocent preborn children." Brown said.
"Pitt did indeed make a strong pro-life statement," Brown continued, "that should be the basis for you, me and every red-blooded pro-life American to write a letter and point out to him the profound nature of his statement as it applies to the preborn baby and thank him for making it."
American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.
