“The people of the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota truly understand what it means to respect the sanctity of all human life,” said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. “American Life League wholeheartedly supports this message and encourages the Oglala Lakota Sioux to continue their fight to protect preborn children.”
American Life League is running a full-page ad in today’s edition of The People’s News, a newspaper which is circulated across numerous South Dakota reservations including the Pine Ridge community. The ad affirms the sacredness of all human life by showing a beautiful close-up picture of a preborn baby at five months with the proclamation, “every life is a sacred one.” The ad then goes on to describe the human being as a new spirit that should never be destroyed.
On multiple trips to South Dakota to show support for the state’s law banning surgical and medical abortions, American Life League representatives have been greeted with enthusiasm by members of Oglala Lakota Nation who are eager to spread the pro-life message.
“We were excited a few weeks ago when the Tribal Council banned abortion on the reservation,” said Brown. “Now, members of the Oglala Lakota Nation are asking the Tribal Council to go one step further and allow them to vote in October to add the abortion prohibition to their constitution. We are in awe of the pro-life fervor of the Oglala Lakota Sioux.”
