For Immediate Release
Fredericksburg, VA (May 15, 2019) – American Life League president, Judie Brown, issued the following statement today regarding Alabama’s senate passing State House Bill 314:
I applaud Alabama for realizing what the Supreme Court didn’t in 1973: that a human life begins at conception (biological beginning) and is never disposable.
Alabama’s senate passing State House Bill 314 is a major victory on the road to banning all abortion. This new law bans all abortion, except in life threatening cases for the mother, and even criminalizes abortion, making abortionists criminals. While the law is not perfect, especially since there is no medical reason to abort a child to save the mother’s life, it is indeed a step in the right direction.
The most notable aspect of State House Bill 314 is that it acknowledges and defines abortionists as criminals. The bill criminalizes abortion thus making abortionists felons whether for committing abortions and for attempted abortions, giving them a new title; not as doctors, but murderers.
This would classify abortion as a class A felony, and could potentially sentence abortionists to life in prison, which is exactly where we want them. Any physician who does not do everything possible to save both mother and child is not worthy of his profession. He cannot call himself a doctor while acting as a hit-man-for-hire on children.
Women have fallen prey to abortion and its lies for far too long. Abortionists do not care about the health and wellbeing of the mother. If they did, they wouldn’t be in the business of making money off of murder.
American Life League is the nation’s oldest grassroots, Catholic, pro-life organization. Its president, Judie Brown, has led the organization since its 1979 beginning. She has served three terms on the Pontifical Academy for Life—appointed twice by Pope John Paul II and again by Pope Benedict XVI.
