Pro-lifers scored a major victory in Nebraska and Iowa this week. Four years ago, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland announced plans to open a total of 12 new centers in the two states—six in Nebraska and six in Iowa. At the time, the organization was operating a total of 28 centers in the two states. Once Planned Parenthood made its plans public, American Life League worked with pro-lifers in both states to stop this expansion.
A major effort took place in both states with local leaders focusing on stopping Planned Parenthood. Over the years, not only did Planned Parenthood not open the new centers, but it closed facilities in both states. Then, this week, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland announced it is dropping its plans to open the new centers. The actual number of Planned Parenthood centers remaining in the two states is 16—12 less than it had four years ago. Congratulations to all who worked so hard to successfully stop the Planned Parenthood expansion plan.
The Center for Medical Progress released another undercover video this week. The latest video is of a meeting between CMP investigators and executives of StemExpress—the major baby body parts procurement company that pays Planned Parenthood for the parts. The video clearly shows StemExpress execs telling the investigators that every clinic it works with gets a profit from the business and that it sometimes gets whole babies from Planned Parenthood.
In an effort to try to give cover to elected officials who still want to give taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood, the organization sent a rambling letter to congressional leaders. PP tells the legislators that only two of its 59 affiliates are involved in providing “fetal tissue,” so it is a very small part of its operation. Then, just a few paragraphs later, PP admits that just 42 days earlier, six of its affiliates were involved. But, it said, four affiliates have stopped since the videos were first released, so they should not be counted!
Planned Parenthood also admitted that its affiliates get $60 per specimen. That’s $60 for each body part. Since one aborted baby will potentially provide many body parts, this means each aborted baby could be worth hundreds of dollars to Planned Parenthood. But, PP maintains it doesn’t make any profit on these transactions. How stupid does this organization think we all are?
