Ask Your Members of Congress to Cosponsor H.R. 681

The most pro-life bill in Congress this year is known as the Life at Conception Act and is designated as House Bill H.R. 681. This is a very short bill that states clearly: “The Congress hereby declares that the right to life guaranteed by the Constitution is vested in each human being. . . . The terms ‘human person’ and ‘human being’ include each and every member of the species homo sapiens at all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization, cloning, or other moment at which an individual member of the human species comes into being.”

That’s it. Very straightforward, very direct. Every preborn boy and girl has a right to life from his or her very beginning.

The bill was introduced on January 24, 2017, with 58 cosponsors. Since that time it has slowly gained momentum, and many additional members of the House have signed on as cosponsors. Just in September and October, the following 15 members added their names to the bill: Rep. Babin, Brian (R-TX-36), Rep. Ratcliffe, John (R-TX-4), Rep. Kelly, Mike (R-PA-3), Rep. Rouzer, David (R-NC-7), Rep. Roby, Martha (R-AL-2), Rep. Young, David (R-IA-3), Rep. Harris, Andy (R-MD-1), Rep. Graves, Tom (R-GA-14), Rep. Guthrie, Brett (R-KY-2), Rep. Flores, Bill (R-TX-17), Rep. Thompson, Glenn (R-PA-5), Rep. Zeldin, Lee M. (R-NY-1), Rep. McHenry, Patrick T. (R-NC-10), Rep. Buck, Ken (R-CO-4), and Rep. LaMalfa, Doug (R-CA-1).

As of today, there are 102 cosponsors of the bill. We ask all of our readers to contact your members of the House and ask them to cosponsor H.R. 681.

You can find a complete list of all cosponsors at congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/681/cosponsors?q={“search”:[“hr 681”]}&r=1.

If your representative is already a cosponsor, please thank him. If not, please ask him to sign on. There is absolutely no reason why any pro-life representative should hesitate to add his or her name to this bill. Currently, 23 percent of the House cosponsor this bill. If we can get to 40 percent (just 72 more cosponsors), we stand a good chance of getting this bill voted on during this Congress.

Please take up this cause today. We are over halfway to our goal.
