We Must Continue Our Prayers

The election is over and God has delivered us from the leadership we believe has been destroying America for almost a decade. God has delivered us from a candidate who promised to kill more of His children with taxpayer money.

As we contemplate what comes next, now is the time that we must all pause and say a prayer of thanks and a prayer for continued guidance. In searching for an appropriate prayer, I found the following on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website:

God of all nations,
Father of the human family,
we give you thanks for the freedom we exercise
and the many blessings of democracy we enjoy
in these United States of America.

We ask for your protection and guidance
for all who devote themselves to the common good,
working for justice and peace at home and around the world.

We lift up all our duly elected leaders and public servants,
those who will serve us as president, as legislators and judges,
those in the military and law enforcement.

Heal us from our differences and unite us, O Lord,
with a common purpose, dedication, and commitment to achieve liberty and justice in the years ahead for all people, and especially those who are most vulnerable in our midst.

Amen.

On the same website, I found the following intercessory prayers:

For all unborn children: that our love for them may keep them safe until the joyous day of their birth; We pray to the Lord.

That the Lord, who rescues the life of the poor from the power of the wicked, might send an angel to guard and protect all unborn children; We pray to the Lord.

For every little child, and especially for those who live in their mother’s womb: that they might grow in the image and likeness of the God who made them; We pray to the Lord.

For the littlest child in her mother’s womb: that in her life we may see the infinite love of God; We pray to the Lord.

Pray fervently. Pray daily. And give thanks for all the blessings you enjoy each and every day.
