Unspoken Truth

By Judie Brown

Copious articles, speeches, memes, and snippets have been written about abortion. In fact, it is safe to say that nobody knows exactly how many insights have been shared over the years. But given this fact, it is sometimes difficult to find anyone willing to say publicly that the act of abortion is an act of murder.

But amidst all this skullduggery, half-truth, and so on, one insightful commentator gave us a peek into the truth. Writing about a scene featuring abortion in the television series Girls, he opined:

[Matt] Walsh offered commentary on the scene during his podcast, noting that the pro-life movement broadly neglects the reality that while some women are indeed victims of abortion, plenty of women are willfully making the choice to murder their babies with malice aforethought.

Rather than casting all women as victims, we should simply state that anyone who willfully partakes in the death of a preborn baby has committed murder, whether that person was the father, the mother, or a third-party abortionist. When pro-life entities deny that simple position, they not only act inconsistently with their professed belief that abortion is murder, but they create a blanket license to murder a baby, so long as the mother herself is the murderer.

Yet it seems that explaining the simple truth that an expectant mother has chosen to have her baby killed, and perhaps paid for it herself, is a bridge too far in the politically deceptive rhetorical atmosphere of our day.

But here is the thing. When a woman is pregnant, she is carrying a human being within her body. This simple, biological fact does not require a college degree or a high intelligence level to understand. Ask any toddler who has noted the fact that her mom is expecting a baby.

Yet when it comes to public groupthink or political attitudinal adjustments, the baby takes a leave of absence and is replaced by meaningless words that are designed to make it easier for that mother to have her baby killed, or these days, ingest some chemicals and perpetrate the deed herself. Some of these chemical weapons are even available online.

People may say this is progress. We disagree.

Lost in the rush to make it easier to facilitate the killing of the preborn is the undeniable fact that IF there were no baby present prior to birth there would be no need to drug yourself, seek surgery for yourself, or otherwise assure yourself that your baby dies.

If this sounds uncharitable to you, take a breath.

We are the defenders of innocent persons of every age; we are not political hacks.

We know the truth, and we are not hesitant about sharing it, focusing attention on it, and blasting it out for all to hear. This is not because we are inhumane. Quite the contrary. We are merely rejecting Pogo’s message that we have met the enemy and he is us (See James 4:1). The enemy is ever deceiving, never revealing. That is what we battle against every day.

The truth will set you and the preborn free. But first we must speak it. This is so because the unspoken truth has left a literal wasteland of dead bodies in its wake.
