Freezing out the truth has long been a part of the persona that identifies Planned Parenthood and its allies. This particular characteristic—fabrication instead of confirmation—goes all the way back to the first days of Margaret Sanger’s public life.
You remember Maggie—the chief provocateur of deception in all matters pertinent to birth control and abortion. In fact, as the founder of what would eventually become Planned Parenthood, Sanger took on the role of assuring poor women that she and her collaborators had their best interests at heart. This was so even as she quietly set about ways to ensure that these very women—these “human weeds” as she disdainfully described them—had as few children as possible.
Her public title these days, as one insultingly adoring video biography of the woman suggests, is “founder of the American reproductive rights movement.” If we analyze this term, however, we discover that reproductive rights are nothing more than words used to mask the truth about abortion, contraception, and in vitro fertilization—among other things.
Let’s concentrate on just the birth control pill and I think you will understand.
As early as 1965, when the first birth control pills were making their way into the public marketplace, the fact that they could abort babies was intentionally hidden and, in fact, denied by the prestigious American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The history of this first of many lies goes directly to the heart of Planned Parenthood’s marketing strategy. In 1959, at a Planned Parenthood/Population Council symposium, a doctor by the name of Bent Boving suggested that, if the definition of when a human being begins was changed from fertilization to implantation, the pill could be presented as NOT having the mechanism of action that would result in the death of a preborn human embryo. This erroneous claim was furthered by Planned Parenthood’s Christopher Tietze, who claimed that “if a medical consensus develops and is maintained that pregnancy, and therefore life, begins at implantation, eventually our brethren from the other faculties will listen.” It is interesting to note that Tietze would eventually be awarded the “Planned Parenthood Federation of America Margaret Sanger Award for outstanding contributions to the pro-abortion movement.”
From the beginning, there has been a carefully woven web of deception and silence protecting the truth about the pill from the public eye. Today there are millions of unsuspecting women who have ingested chemicals that they think are harmless, not only to their health, but to the possible life of their preborn children. Current medical literature bears witness to the truth that the pill is not safe for any woman, let alone her baby if she conceives. Think about these news stories:
Time magazine: “Birth Control Pill Risks May Now Include Brain Cancer”
Newsweek magazine: “If You’ve Taken the Pill Recently, You May Be at Increased Risk of Breast Cancer”
The American Academy of Neurology: “Do Obesity, Birth Control Pills Raise Risk of Multiple Sclerosis?”
ABC News: “Birth Control Pills May Double Glaucoma Risk”
The list goes on, but we are pretty sure you get the picture.
The point is that when you take facts pertinent to public health and choose not to share them based on the possibility that doing so may cut into your profit margin, you have a very good description of Planned Parenthood and its allies.
When it comes to the pill, abortion, and all related subjects, the facts are in the deep freeze and are very likely to stay there. That is, unless you start spreading the word.
Don’t let the big chill harm you or someone you love. Get involved!
