Pro-lifers across the country will be ready to protest the birth control pill on Saturday, June 7. Why? Because the pill can kill babies. How? The third action of the birth control pill is that it irritates the lining of the uterus, thus preventing implantation of an already-created human being.
The truth about the pill's abortifacient effects is nothing new. Medical professionals are fully aware that the pill thins the uterine lining (endometrium) and depletes it of essential nutrients to the degree that, if a baby is created while a woman is on the pill, it cannot nourish the newly conceived baby. Thus the five-to-seven-day-old preborn baby cannot attach to the uterine wall and dies. This is a chemical abortion.
We have already heard from many riled-up abortion supporters, including National Organization for Women members. NOW has scrambled to schedule counter protests on this day. Why? Because organizations such as Planned Parenthood and NOW want young women to believe that it is not possible to conceive a baby while using the pill – and that a human being is not a human being until this new baby attaches to the mother's uterus (implantation).
Of course, these are the same organizations that call a baby a blob of tissue or a cell mass, and claim that a preborn baby is somehow not really a baby. They like to play the name game. Abortion advocates play this game by referring young people to the definition coined by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, which they also use to justify their actions. ACOG issued a medical bulletin in 1965 that "officially" changed the definition of conception from the union of sperm and egg to implantation: "Conception is the implantation of a fertilized ovum [egg]."
Once that happened, it was easy for pill manufacturers and other organizations, such as Planned Parenthood, to conceal how the pill actually works and only mention that it "prevents pregnancy," when, in fact, women have become pregnant while on the pill. This misleading, scientifically inaccurate redefinition of conception enabled birth control supporters to promote pill production and their anti-life, anti-family and anti-woman agenda.
Although definitions have changed to suit the pro-abortion mentality, that doesn't change the fact that simple science tells us that life does indeed begin at the beginning of biological development. Once the father's sperm and the mother's egg meet a brand-new human being with 46 chromosomes has been created and nothing more is added to make this new individual a person. This little person's physical characteristics, and much of his intelligence and personality, have already been determined at the point of creation. This is irrefutable scientific fact. Do not let Planned Parenthood and other abortion proponents tell you otherwise. They are wrong.
However, because of ACOG's changed definition, women have often been lied to since 1965. They have typically been told that the pill only prevents pregnancy, and they are shocked to learn about the abortifacient effects of the birth control pill, patch, injection, implant and IUD, as well as other birth control products.
It is not surprising that organizations such as Planned Parenthood would not want to admit the truth. Planned Parenthood pays its suppliers $2 for a month's supply of birth control and sells this to its customers for $18 to $30. Planned Parenthood received a total of $356.9 million in clinic income alone during the 2006-2007 fiscal year. It sold over 3,878,600 contraceptive products to women, which is 55 percent of its clinic income. Planned Parenthood, which targets people under 25, will not admit that the pill kills babies because it would lose its customers.
This Saturday, June 7, is the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's 1965 Griswold v. Connecticut decision, which decriminalized the sale of birth control. On this day, there will be protests against the birth control pill in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, New York, Wisconsin, Washington D.C. and many other areas. Protesters will be outside of Planned Parenthood clinics, pharmacies and other facilities that distribute the birth control pill – even doctor's offices. It will be the largest protest against the birth control pill that this country has ever seen. And it certainly will not be the last.
American Life League, along with Pro-Life Wisconsin and Pharmacists for Life International, is also holding a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. on Friday, June 6, at 9 AM, featuring medical experts who will explain how the pill does, in fact, kill preborn babies.
Women in our country have been grossly misinformed about the pill and this is why we have scheduled this national protest – to reveal the ugly truth that the pill can kill babies and that organizations such as Planned Parenthood and NOW have been misinforming women about the pill for decades.
