With the appointment of Shirley M. Tilghman as president of Princeton University, “Princeton continues to promote and applaud the killing of embryonic human persons for scientific gain,” said Father Joseph C. Howard, Jr., director of the American Bioethics Advisory Commission (a division of American Life League).
As head of the National Institutes of Health committee that created guidelines for embryonic stem cell research, Tilghman supported the killing of human persons in their embryonic stage of development as an ethical and correct means of science.
“This comes as no surprise,” said Fr. Howard. “Tilghman will follow in the footsteps of her predecessor, Harold T. Shapiro (who gave tenure to pro-infanticide philosopher Peter Singer). She will continue to lead the university and its students down the road of unethical and unnecessary scientific practices that take the lives of innocent human persons. This is a sad day for Princeton University and its students.”
