Washington, D.C. (17 March 2010) – The Women’s Pregnancy Center in Pomona, California, is dedicated to serving the needs of the age group most targeted by abortion advocates – college students.
Located on campus at the California State Polytechnic University, American Life League’s newest Associate group faces an uphill battle countering the pervasive culture of abortion that dominates college campuses across the nation.
Since November, WPC has been active on campus offering educational literature to students. WPC is also proud to offer students free pregnancy testing, post-abortion counseling, referrals for housing and ultrasound, as well as access to food banks.
But still the group faces intense opposition from “pro-choice” students and professors.
“It seems that abortion is the only ‘choice’ those students are taught,” said Tricia Latham, WPC vice president.
The Women’s Pregnancy Center joins over a hundred ALL Associates in the United States, Canada, Africa and the Philippines. The groups are dedicated to a fundamental principle that recognizes the dignity and personhood of every human being from the beginning of biological development.
“WPC is working hard on the front lines to help students and their preborn babies,” said Leslie Tignor, director of ALL’s Associate Program. “We’re excited to join with them in our shared mission to change the culture on campus and in our communities to one that celebrates, nurtures and welcomes every new child.”
American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.
