Just days ago a scandal was finally ended at Most Holy Redeemer parish in San Francisco. The parish had been the sight for "Revial Bingo" hosted by the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence," a group of drag queens parading around as nuns.
Holy Redeemer's pastor, Father Stephen Meriwether, the chancellor of the San Francisco archdiocese under Archbishop George Neideraurer, is reported to have been aware of the blasphemous bingo games. In fact the parish has a long history of "pro-gay" activism.
But thanks to Catholic bloggers like Mark Shea, the matter came to a head when thousands of Catholics across America expressed their concern. On october 30 without any fanfare the infamous games were cancelled.
The real question is, of course, why this was ever permitted in the first place. Since nobody is offering an explanation for that, perhaps you could ask the Archdiocse of San Franciso.
