Well, maybe they do. At least when it comes to bold faced lying about the morning after pill versus the "abortion" pill.
Associated Press is spreading a rumor far and wide. It goes like this:
The morning-after pill, also called emergency contraception, prevents pregnancy but has no effect if a woman already is pregnant. Sold under the brand name Plan B, it's merely a higher-than-normal dose of a hormone found in regular birth-control pills. It works by preventing ovulation or fertilization of an egg. While it also may prevent the egg from implanting into the uterus, the medical definition of pregnancy, recent research suggests that's not likely.
The abortion pill, RU-486 or Mifeprex, can terminate pregnancy up to 49 days after the beginning of the last menstrual cycle. It's a two-pill process. First, a woman swallows Mifeprex, which blocks production of a hormone required to sustain pregnancy. Then she takes a second medicine, misoprostol, to cause contractions and finish the abortion.
PLEASE take note that pregnancy does not now, nor has it ever begun at the point at which a human embryonic child negotiates the act of implanting himself in his mother's womb. Pregnancy has always begun when the human being begins … at conception/fertilization.
If your local newspaper cannot tell the truth, you need to tell them what the truth really is. Failing to do this means that we pro-lifers are accomodating the culture of death.
