Washington, D.C. (12 January 2010) – Judie Brown, president of American Life League, commented on the recent ruling in Nevada by Judge James Russell that the 14-word “human personhood” amendment, recognizing every human being as a person, did not meet the single-subject rule for ballot access initiatives.
“Planned Parenthood and their attorneys have demonstrated one thing. They are absolutely terrified personhood might be debated in the court of public opinion. Instead, Planned Parenthood seeks to confine personhood to the courts.
“Over the last two years, Americans devoted to defending human beings’ lives have initiated personhood efforts in many states across the nation. The abortion lobby is playing defense for the first time in 37 years because of the clear and simple message the personhood movement offers.
“We look forward to the day all human beings are recognized in law, and are confident that Planned Parenthood’s legal maneuverings will not obstruct the will of the people.”
