“An RU-486 abortion cuts off blood and nutrients to the growing preborn baby, slowly starving her inside the mother’s womb.” Lila Rose, founder of Live Action, spoke these words upon the release of Live Action’s latest medical animation video. This short 4-minute video depicts how a chemical abortion pill aborts a baby once he has implanted in his mother’s womb.
This video and its companion videos have gotten more than 35 million hits on social media—and the numbers grow hourly. Thus far there are four videos in the series. The spokesman, former abortionist Anthony Levatino, walks the viewer through each of the procedures using medically accurate information to describe exactly how the procedures are done. In each of the videos, the descriptions of the D & E (dilation and extraction) abortion, the aspiration abortion, the pill abortion, and the induction abortion are painstakingly described and illustrated with such precision that some have found them difficult to watch.
An animated baby literally dies before your eyes in each of these presentations. The power that such a video can have and the virtual lifesaving effect each can have is incalculable.
Lila Rose has said that the set of four videos depicts the “four most prevalent” abortion methods in the USA. Depending on how you define abortion, that statement is either accurate or falls short of the full gamut of actions, chemical and human, that can and do kill the preborn.
We know that in addition to the four methods of abortion illustrated in these exceptional medical animations, there are deadly abortions executed due to the chemicals found in the vast majority of birth control pills and devices. We also know that human embryonic children are constantly disposed of in a wide variety of ways in in vitro fertilization clinics and research labs across this nation. These abortions are no less deadly, but a bit more challenging to depict using animation techniques given the fact that the single cell human embryo does not “look like” a human being.
Maybe not, but the fact is that there is no human being on this planet who did not begin his life by biologically developing through the very simple processes outlined so beautifully in the Carnegie Stages of Human Development. Each and every person begins with the three steps that compose stage 1—the first stage of human development.
It would be challenging to employ medical animation to show our fellow Americans how these millions of abortions are occurring every hour of every day, but it is a challenge that the pro-life community must meet. In fact, after nearly 50 years in this struggle myself, I am sure it will be accomplished sooner rather than later.
Education of our fellow human beings is the way we will end the slaughter. Education is the single best route that leads expectant mothers to choose life, that helps the mother who has aborted her child to heal, and that helps average citizens understand why abortion is deadly every single time.
The younger the person is who learns the truth about the value and dignity of the human being, the brighter the future will be.
