Planned Parenthood holds the copyright on other publications by Margaret Sanger, and she was a very powerful writer. If Planned Parenthood were proud of what she said, they could publish her books. But in fact, it is pro-lifers who work to make her writings available.
In 1997, the copyright for Sanger’s Pivot of Civilization will expire, and pro-lifers will make it available to the world. But if Planned Parenthood thinks she is being quoted out of context, they could give us permission to re-publish the book right away, or do it themselves. In fact, though, they don’t want anyone reading her eloquence, because she was a eugenicist.
On their home page, Planned Parenthood offers a defense of Margaret Sanger. What they don’t say is that she belonged to eugenics societies on both sides of the Atlantic, the Eugenics Society in England and the American Eugenics Society.
