Dr. Colleen McNicholas, an abortionist and chief medical officer for Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri, said in reference to the possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned, “We believe this is a public health emergency that will worsen already dire health outcomes, especially among Black and brown folks, undocumented people, women, and people with low incomes who already face racist and discriminatory policies.”
Such frenzied rhetoric is typical among those whose livelihood will be threatened if even a small step forward results from the Supreme Court decision on the Dobbs case. It has been this way for so long that we can hardly remember a time when obstetricians unanimously agreed that their primary job was to treat and heal rather than target and kill.
Along with other equally stupefying events, such evil is so prevalent today that one is left wondering why folks cannot see that the devil is having a heyday. Perhaps they have never heard of or learned about the demon Satan who is the personification of evil, not to mention the deadly enemy of Christ Himself. This ruler of hell is always on the prowl, and abortion is part of his armory of deadly practices. Today his net is filling up with people who have a lust for dead babies.
Recent facts bear this out.
Writing about how the nation will respond if abortion is scaled back, one author claims that medication abortion may be the fail-safe, go-to practice of the future. He opines: “The more than a dozen states that plan to almost totally ban abortion if Roe is overturned will face difficulties enforcing restrictions on medication abortion because women are still likely to be able to obtain the pills online or in other states.”
In other words, the stealth practices of abortionists will not be curtailed no matter what. While some may argue that this is false, I would counter that evil always finds a way. America is going back to the back alley, but we hope not without a fight.
When the media can go so far that it attacks Supreme Court justices in efforts to intimidate them into ruling for the killing, it is clear that the struggle is fierce. I have read that because President Biden’s amicus brief in the Dobbs case “points out, contraception, gay sex and gay and interracial marriage are not mentioned in the Constitution and ‘most were widely prohibited when the 14th Amendment was adopted,’” we have to presume that abortion would also be part of an alleged “living constitution.” This means, to any sane person, that the Constitution of the United States was never meant to be the founding document of our nation, but only a working draft.
Another perspective is that Alito’s draft decision is simply weak. But Alito’s words are anything but frail. He writes: “Defenders of Roe and Casey do not claim that any new scientific learning calls for a different answer to the underlying moral question, but they do contend that changes in society require the recognition of a constitutional right to obtain an abortion. Without the availability of abortion, they maintain, people will be inhibited from exercising their freedom to choose the types of relationships they desire, and women will be unable to compete with men in the workplace and in other endeavors.”
His logic is irrefutable. All we need do is reflect on what it means for anyone to say that changes in society require that killing the innocent is a must! What sort of evil thinking provokes this inhumane language?
The answer is, of course, that for those who favor abortion there is no human being involved prior to birth, only a growth that must be cut out, burned out, or sliced up. That is inhumane!
But it is precisely why 64% of Americans in a recent poll said that Roe v. Wade should not be overturned. For them, pregnancy is an inconvenient result of sex, and it has a cure.
For us to live civilly in a nation without abortion requires logic, honesty, and compassion. One wonders if those traits are even possible when America already has so much blood on her hands.
