Former speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi is a walking contradiction in terms on so many levels. But for my purposes it would be best to concentrate on her self-identification as a Catholic coupled with her lack of comprehension on matters related to respect for the sanctity of every human being from inception to death.
If you have paid any attention at all to the public debate manufactured and being carried out in mainstream media, you will note the firestorm of criticism for President Trump for calling members of the murderous MS-13 gang “animals.” It seems that those with particular axes to grind with the president have misinterpreted his words and have chosen to attack him on a number of levels. Nancy Pelosi even jumped into the foray, with the most ridiculous—and ironic—rebuttal. She said: “We believe that—some of us who are attracted to the political arena, to government and public service—that we’re all God’s children, there’s a spark of divinity in every person on Earth, and that we all have to recognize that, as we respect the dignity and worth of every person, and as we recognize our responsibilities with that spark of divinity within us.”
These are lofty words, but her rhetoric contains the elements of what Christ defined as those of a “false prophet,” for it is apparently only in born people that Pelosi finds that spark of divinity.
In the seventh chapter of Matthew, Christ defines false prophets as those who “come to you disguised as sheep but underneath are ravenous wolves.” He explains, “You will be able to tell them by their fruits. Can people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?”
Pelosi’s deceptive rhetoric runs deep. This is a woman who is a mother and a grandmother, yet at the same time she is one of the Catholic members of Congress who is among the most ravenous defenders of an expectant mother’s “right” to kill her child before birth by acquiring an abortion.
As Pelosi has said repeatedly, because God gave each of us a free will, He has enabled women to choose killing her own baby. She stated: “It is my view that it is up to a woman to have her own right to choose the size of her family.”
On other occasions she has uttered similar false representations of God’s will, and to this day very few Catholic bishops have had the guts to take the actions they—as bishops—are obliged to take and deny her the body and blood of Christ until such time as she publicly repents of her sins of support for the killing of innocent preborn children.
Cardinal Raymond Burke has said that Pelosi should be denied the Blessed Sacrament, but he does not represent the US bishops. Pelosi’s own archbishop, Salvatore Cordileone, says that “no Catholic can dissent from Church teaching,” but he has not denied her the sacrament.
In fact, Pelosi has roundly rejected both Catholic teaching and her archbishop’s words, saying: “As a mother of five, in six years, I have great standing on this issue, great understanding of it, more than my colleagues.”
In other words, Pelosi, unlike God and the teachings of the Catholic Church, knows best! She can selectively practice following God while using language about the divinity of the human person to defend everyone except innocent babies before birth.
Pelosi is a false prophet. And that is a truth we can never deny.
