“Sin is the MONSTER we love to deny.
It can stalk us, bite a slice out of our lives, return again and bite again, and even as we bleed and hobble, we prefer to believe nothing has happened. That makes sin the perfect monster, a man-eater that blinds and numbs its victims, convincing them that nothing is wrong and there is no need to flee, and then consumes them at its leisure.
We’ve all been assailed by this beast, sometimes face-to-face, but all too often from a direction we aren’t prepared to defend, and it’s only in recognizing the beast for what it is that we can hope to escape at all. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven and empowered to overcome sin, but opening the door and tossing the beast kitchen scraps of our character is no way to drive it off. Toying with an animal that is actually toying with us is a sure way to lose part of ourselves.
I was watching it happen to some friends of mine the year I began writing The Oath. As the rest of us just kept on praising the Lord, loving one another, smiling, and trying not to be judgmental, some really good people walked stupidly, blindly into the jaws of sin. The tooth marks still show today, in ruined marriages and soiled ministries. The rest of us should have said something.”1

Abortion Is a Beast Among Us
“Because from inside, from the heart of men, come evil thoughts and unclean pleasures.” — (Mark 7:21, Bible in Basic English)
Abortion is an ancient sin. The product of a long forgotten luciferian oath. Like the fictitious residents of Frank Peretti’s Hyde River, America also has a hidden sin and a deadly secret. Just like something sinister was at work in Hyde River, an imaginary and isolated mining town in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, so is something evil at work in America today. Under the cover of darkness, abortion, like a bloodthirsty beast strikes thousands of times a day, every day, taking life in the most chilling and savage fashion imaginable. Like the compromised community of Hyde River watched in terror as her residents suddenly vanished, so America, privately wondering “who will be next,” idly watches as women, children, and whole families are eaten alive by abortion. Yet the more America is pressed for information, the more she seems to close ranks, almost as if she has been sworn to secrecy. Nevertheless, like Hyde River, when America’s secrets are exposed, the true extent of the danger will be revealed. And in my opinion, what America will discover is something far more deadly than anything she has ever imagined.
How to Kill a Beast!
“And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.” — (Revelation 19:19, KJV)
After 38 years of failed strategies, could it be true that America, like Steve Benson, Peretti’s fictional wildlife biologist, has fallen in love with the beast in the mirror? Could be it that America no longer has ears to hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the men and women suffering from the guilt and shame of abortion? Could it be that America no longer has eyes to see beyond the needs of a hedonistic lifestyle that religiously and narcissistically serves self? Could it be that after the lost lives of over 53 million aborted babies, America no longer has a strategy to kill the beast and end abortion? Could it be that America no longer has the moral conviction to kill the beast that doesn’t just stalk its victims, but has the power to turn hearts black with decay as it slowly fills their souls with darkness? Could it really be that America has taken “The Oath”?
I Don’t Think So!
And offer the following stratagems to be implemented simultaneously:
• Starve The Beast to death by preaching good tidings unto the meek, binding up the brokenhearted, proclaiming liberty to the captives, giving sight to the blind, opening the doors of prison to them that are bound and hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. This will take away the abortion industry’s customer base from the ground up. (Isaiah 61; Luke 4:18,19;Jude 23).
• Drive a stake through the heart of The Beast by understanding the love of money is the root of all evil, confessing we cannot serve two (2) masters at the same time and as citizens of this great republic, holding our elected representatives accountable in the voting booth. This will defund the abortion industry at every level. (1st Timothy 6:10; Luke 6:13; Jude 11)
• Cut off the head of The Beast by renewing our commitment to Christ and His Word, without apology and without exceptions and biblically defining the term person. This will at once, for the first time and for all time, secure the civil rights of preborn children at every level of law in the land. (1st Samuel 17:51; Psalms 22:9,10; Galatians 1:15)
Brothers, we really need to talk.

Walter B. Hoye II is both president and founder of the Issues4life Foundation and the California Civil Rights Foundation. God used the premature birth (six months, 2.1 pounds) of his son to teach him that the fetus is a person—a living, breathing human being. In 2008, Walter and his wife, Lori, were the recipients of the 4th Annual Walk for Life West Coast’s St. Gianna Molla Award for “courage under fire” in the pro-life movement. He serves as an incredible leader for the cause of the preborn despite the personal costs, and has even been unjustly jailed for his peaceful defense of the preborn on a sidewalk outside an abortion clinic. His “Letter from the Santa Rita Jail” and California Human Rights Amendment appeal for personhood entitled “Why I Can’t Wait” are now classics. Hoye has also written a book entitled, Leadership from the Inside Out.
