Check Out the Terrific Culture of Life Studies Program

By Rey Flores

St. Joseph and the Gift of Fatherhood is the latest offering from the terrific Culture of Life Studies Program, which is a series of life-affirming supplemental lessons for both schoolteachers and homeschooling parents, and which was just endorsed by Cardinal Raymond Burke.

The CLSP is the brainchild of American Life League president and cofounder Judie Brown and a few of the CLSP team members who are making the rounds at a number of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Homeschooling Conferences this year, as well as the Great Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati, March 31 through April 2.

The CLSP was American Life League’s response to the modern culture waging open war against marriage, the family, preborn children, and the disabled. CLSP says that there has never been a greater need for an educational program that teaches students the truth about the value of all human beings, the sacredness of the sacrament of marriage, and the necessity of the family as the building block of society.

I must agree wholeheartedly. Planned Parenthood and the pop culture of death are doing everything they can to prey on our children and sink their evil clutches into them.

The Culture of Life Studies Program strives to build a culture of life by helping students to understand the value of every human being and by inspiring a new generation of young people who will defend preborn children, respect all human beings from creation to death, and speak the truth with confidence in defense of the innocent. Programs are available.

What makes CLSP unique is that unlike other pro-life educational initiatives that focus on adult education, CLSP targets children and teenagers to instill in them the values of the gospel of life at an early age. CLSP educational supplements support a traditional high school or grade school curriculum by guiding students through the same subjects from a pro-life perspective.

CLSP supplements are versatile enough to complement any already existing curriculum in private schools, homeschools, religious education programs, or youth ministry.

The CLSP consists of five series: Life Primer, Life Foundations, Life Quest, Life Lens, and Life Scope.

Beginning their studies in Life Primer, students learn how God creates each human being to be unique, valuable, and deserving of respect regardless of age, race, size, background, or ability. In middle school, students continue their studies in the basic principles of the gospel of life in the series Life Foundations by examining age-appropriate pro-life topics in literature, history, science, and religion.

When students reach high school, more emphasis is placed on evangelization and communication through critical thinking and hands-on activities in Life Quest, Life Lens, and Life Scope. While Life Quest and Life Lens study a specific text, moment in history, or Church document in great detail through a written supplement, Life Scope presents information through multimedia outlets and challenges students to use media tools to proclaim the gospel of life.

Programs like CLSP are vitally important because of troubling books like the near-pornographic It’s Perfectly Normal, and radical homosexual propaganda like Heather Has Two Mommies or And Tango Makes Three. The National Education Association has poisoned so many schools across the country with some of these books. And many children have been exposed to objectionable materials thanks to Planned Parenthood’s sex-ed programs.

CLSP is the antidote to so much cultural garbage that our children are constantly assaulted with through popular culture—be it television, radio, the Internet, and even the unavoidable billboards across America’s roadways.

Given that St. Joseph’s Feast Day [has recently passed] and that he is the patron saint of families, I was especially excited to share the St. Joseph and the Gift of Fatherhood with my own children. This is one of the free lessons made available to parents and teachers by the CLSP to help build the culture of life by making it as easy as possible for us to share these valuable lessons with our families.

In St. Joseph and the Gift of Fatherhood, we learn all about the gift of fatherhood and the unique calling many of us men have as husbands, fathers, providers, and protectors of our families.

But this lesson plan isn’t just for us fathers. It challenges all students to ask themselves: How as “pro-lifers” are we are called to be protectors?
The lesson plan tells us: “Being pro-life means you always look out for those smaller, younger, or weaker than you. You can pray for an end to abortion, stand up for the truth even when it’s not easy or popular, and you can be a good friend—especially to someone who is feeling lonely or forgotten.”

I encourage all of you to discover American Life League’s Culture of Life Studies Program if you want to form your children K through 12th grade in the most comprehensive, unapologetically Catholic, pro-life, pro-family, pro-God educational supplement available anywhere.

Every single Catholic elementary and high school across the country should have these supplemental lessons in place in their curriculum, as should every homeschooling family. We cannot afford to let our children be devoured by a culture of death any longer.

I challenge all educators, parents, and grandparents to ask themselves what truly makes an education program or school truly Catholic. I’ll tell you the answer right now: the Culture of Life Studies Program.

I highlighted the St. Joseph lesson plan, but there are plenty more lessons which you can check out at the website CultureOfLifeStudies.com. Or, you can contact CLSP’s educational outreach coordinator Mary Flores at 540-907-9648 or e-mail mflores@all.org for a free consultation on how you can build a solid culture of life at your educational institution or homeschool through the Culture of Life Studies Program.

Lastly, educational outreach coordinator Mary Flores invites you to become a supporter of the CLSP in a number of ways, including signing up for their e-newsletters, sharing the latest CLSP posts on social media like Facebook and Twitter, and prayerfully considering being financial investors in the further development of CLSP lessons, which are an investment in the salvation of many eternal souls of our young people.

“People have the power to make very real changes in all of these ways. Don’t despair about the evil in this world. Take action! The CLSP offers a wonderful opportunity for you to fight back effectively against the culture of death!”
