The Abortion Argument
Abortion is not a debate. It is a death penalty for the most innocent and precious. From a Christian perspective, we know God created all life and loves every person—both born and preborn. He weeps every time one of his children is sacrificed on the altar of convenience. We must stand up for the rights of the preborn. We are equipped with the belt of truth, our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, holding strong the shield of faith. Our heads protected by the helmet of salvation and wielding the sword of the spirit, we are fully outfitted with God’s armor. Our biblical beliefs assure us that a child’s life is sacred and must be defended.
“You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb” Psalm 139:13. The moment of conception is the beginning of life. Some claim that life starts when an infant no longer relies on his mother, which is utterly foolish because a two year old still relies on his mother, and this does not mean he does not deserve the right to live. Others believe that when a child feels pain he becomes human. However, anyone with nerve damage, anhidrosis, or leprosy is unable to feel pain, and he is no less human than those who are not hindered from feeling pain. Any attempt to reason that life starts at any other point than conception is unfounded and ineffective. The moment a child is conceived he has a unique DNA that God specifically designed for that child. Hair color, eye color, gender, and so much more have already been decided by our loving Creator.
“Before birth the LORD called me, from my mother’s womb he gave me my name” Isaiah 49:1. God has a purpose for every single child sent into this world. The pregnancy might be unplanned for the mother, but not for God! God has shown numerous times in the Bible and in His character that He is pro-life, but our world is ignoring His authority. “[God], who from my mother’s womb had set me apart and called me through his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son to me, so that I might proclaim him to the Gentiles,” Galatians 1:15. In any circumstance, planned or unplanned, God can use anyone for His master plan, including a child in the womb. God has chosen His children to be His hands and feet in this world clouded by sin. We must allow them the opportunity to be lights for Jesus and vessels for eternal hope.
The people who justify abortion do so by changing the definition of a child. They claim that the child in the womb is simply a parasitic embryo that holds no intrinsic value. This is an absolute lie. The relationship between a mother and child in the womb is symbiotic. The woman gives nutrients to the child and the child may even send stem cells to the mother if she has any organ damage such as a heart attack. Every preborn baby is a child loved by God. Jesus called the children to Him and said, “Let the children come to me and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” Luke 18:16. Jesus told the world that the kingdom of heaven belongs to children, and yet we are not willing to allow them a home on earth. Our society labels preborn children as disposable instead of priceless gifts. People can debate abortion without ever truly grasping the reality of the situation. Children are dying! Abortion will never be just an argument. It is a devastating horror that has befallen our society because those who desire these children to be snuffed out changed the terminology of a preborn baby and try to use scientific terms to declare that a baby is a clump of cells or a fetus, dehumanizing these babies by redefining their terminology. Many pro-choice people attempt to justify abortion by using victims of rape to satisfy their agenda. They take their horrific circumstances to explain why women who become pregnant due to rape can’t live with the constant reminder of what happened to them. However, less than one percent of abortions are because of rape, and even so, no child is a mistake, and a baby’s value doesn’t depreciate because of a less-than-ideal situation. Regardless of what circumstances brought the child into our world, he is innocent and has a right to life!
Why must we fight for the right to life? Because babies’ lives are being terminated every day, and they don’t have the ability to speak up for themselves. Abortion is destroying an entire generation behind closed doors. Almost 700,000 children are being murdered every year in the US alone, and it must stop! Abortion isn’t a choice; the mother had her choice before conception. It is the genocide of infants. We have an obligation to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.
Our society has reached a point where we have forgotten our morality. A child’s life should never be up for discussion. Everyone deserves to live because God has created them, and their life has a purpose. For instance, Simone Biles, currently one of the best gymnasts in the world, was born to a drug addicted, single mother who chose life for her baby. Steve Jobs’ mom chose life for her baby, and he was adopted. Both of these people served a great purpose, and they have both made an impact on our world thanks to their mothers deciding to honor the gift of their children. We cannot remain silent and sit by as the next generation is slaughtered at the hands of abortion. All children deserve to live! Unplanned children are not mistakes or inconveniences to be disposed of, but are the most precious treasures God has given, so let’s join together and stand firm in His truth.
