Pro-Life This Week – January 11, 2019

Week in Review – PP and abortions, anti-Catholicism, pro-life congresswoman, and Personhood

In a surprisingly honest statement, Dr. Leana Wen, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, tweeted this week on the core mission of PPFA. She stated: “First, our core mission is providing, protecting and expanding access to abortionand reproductive health care. We will never back down from that fight—it’s a fundamental human right and women’s lives are at stake.” Although it has always been obvious to those opposed to Planned Parenthood that abortion is part of its “core mission,” we now have the admission of that fact from the president of the organization. For an understanding of what prompted Dr. Wen’s statement, please read the article on our STOPP.org website.

Members of the United States Senate showed blatant anti-Catholic bias as they questioned Brian Buescher in his confirmation hearings for a District Court judge position. Sens. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and Kamala Harris (D-CA) attacked him in written questions that zeroed in on his membership in the Catholic Knights of Columbus. Hirono asserted that the Knights have taken “extreme positions” by upholding Catholic teaching against abortion and against homosexual “marriage.” Buescher was even asked, “If confirmed, do you intend to end your membership with this organization to avoid any appearance of bias?” Many news outlets, as well as other elected officials, have labeled this as a “religious litmus tests” for judges. Although many in our society think that this anti-Catholic bigotry is a thing of the past, its resurgence as our nation sinks more and more to the depths of Hell is undeniable. All of this probably would not have garnered great attention except that Kamala Harris is the former California attorney general who collaborated with Planned Parenthood in the still-ongoing persecution of David Daleiden and the CMP. She is reportedly considering running for president of the United States in the 2020 elections.

Not all women in Congress are pro-abortion. Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) introduced HR 296, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, this week. This bill codifies President Trump’s Protect Life Rule that excludes abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, from receiving Title X funding. HR 296 prohibits awards of federal family planning grants to entities that perform elective abortions and increases reporting requirements for the Department of Health and Human Services for more transparency and accountability.

Rep. Foxx stated: “When the Title X Family Planning Program was created in 1970, Congress made it clear that abortion was not an acceptable form of family planning, stating, ‘None of the funds appropriated under this title shall be used in programs where abortion is a method of family planning.’ Since then, the original intent of the law has been undermined as Title X funds have routinely contributed to employee salaries, facility costs, and medical supplies for abortion providers. The Protect Life Rule was an important step to end this exploitation of the law, and the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act will make sure taxpayer dollars don’t subsidize abortion providers under any future Administrations.”

Personhood of the preborn child is a concept that is being more and more talked about by the other side of the abortion battle. Basically, the concept of personhood is that every preborn child is a human being and should be recognized as a person. Once recognized as a person, the preborn child would be protected by the 14thAmendment to the Constitution. The New York Timesran a series of articlesabout personhood (mostly negative). Also, the current abortion law in Indiana is being challenged in part because it requires all abortion facilities to treat fetal remains in the exact same manner as the law requires for all other human remains. American Life League has long been in the forefront of the personhood movement in the United States. We will continue to bring you developments as they occur.

ALL in the News – False accusers, Jews betrayed, Planned Parenthood honesty (for once)

Judie Brown wrote a commentary, Believe All Women?, that takes a critical look at how women accusers are treated and how those who are accused turn out to be the real victims in the court of public opinion.

Jim Sedlak wrote an article, Planned Parenthood Abandons Its Jewish Supporters, which took a serious look at Planned Parenthood’s support of the Women’s March in light of the serious revelations about the anti-Semitic nature of the leadership of the Women’s March.

STOPP published a detailed analysis, Planned Parenthood president refreshingly honest, of Dr. Wen’s surprise admission of Planned Parenthood’s core mission. Jim Sedlak did an interview with One News Now on this same topic.

Jim Sedlak’s Pro-Life Activism from Creation to Deathis a weekly talk-radio program on the Radio Maria USA network. It can be heard live every Friday at noon (Eastern Time) and is repeated on Saturdays (10 PM) and Mondays (10 PM).

Video of the Week – Do prayers really matter? Should we pray a certain way?

The battle for the protection of all vulnerable human life has, is, and always will be a spiritual battle. American Life League understands that prayer, sacrifice, and the intercession of the Blessed Mother is not only crucial to the battle, but it is paramount.

Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia explains in its Sidewalk Servant series that

“The most powerful thing outside of an abortion center is prayer. Pray before you go. Pray on your way. Pray the whole time you’re there. Pray on your way home. We want to bathe the whole experience, our whole time, of serving outside an of abortion center in prayer. “

Pro-life Social Media – Great signs at the March for Life

March for Life participants go the extra mile to create their own pro-life signs.

It’s no secret that the March for Life draws tens of thousands of teenagers and young adults every year. Their participation and enthusiasm isn’t regressing any time soon. With that comes a creative force of life-affirming signage destined for virality on social media.

How does this virality happen? Simple. To get noticed, you have to make your own sign. Below is a collection of favorites from our last visit to the March for Life in Washington, DC.
