Planned Parenthood recently announced that voters expect elected officials to “fight to protect abortion” and themselves. In other words, PP’s deadly devotion to its own agenda has not moved a millimeter in the last hundred-plus years. If this is not the epitome of self-service, it may be time for us to look elsewhere for the head of the abortion beast.
And we might consider the governor of California to be equally delirious. Newsom says he is a practicing Catholic even though he is an avid supporter of abortion, homosexual lifestyles, and more. In fact, Gavin Newsom has recently proclaimed, “In California, we embrace the full spectrum of personhood, all the possibilities and identities that humanity encompasses. With the trans pride flag raised over our State Capitol today, let us continue to lead with California’s values of respect, equality and acceptance so that all are safe and welcomed in our communities.”
Note the absence of the preborn child from his words. The equality of all human beings can never be respected if anyone in any way engages in support of the killing of our youngest community members.
Moving on from the Newsom claptrap, we find our own State Department declaring that abortion is considered a violation of human rights. Great, you might say, until you read further. As Live Action reports, “The UK and other member states will now be asked to count the number of abortions taking place in their countries, and face being denounced in the official report for funding abortions or distributing drugs that end a pregnancy.”
Imagine the public reaction if the words “count the number of abortions” were replaced with “count the number of child murders in schoolyards.” Why would our State Department demand an account of preborn child killings from other nations when we kill millions within our national borders as the Trump administration looks on? Since when is demanding that other nations take an account of abortion numbers a valid State Department policy when that same department could easily posture itself as the voice of reason by stating the truth that abortion kills a human being?
Such nonsensical claptrap is designed to message the public that Trump and his administration are pro-life, when in fact they are committed to appearances without substantive action. This seems to be the case on several fronts, each of which avoids the hard truth in favor of political platitudes.
This brings us to another hard truth about the facts of life versus fiction. We have a president who attempts to further corrupt medical ethics by improving access to the unethical practice of in vitro fertilization rather than addressing the flaws in a system that routinely eliminates embryonic babies because they are either unwanted or imperfect.
Therein resides the crux of the challenge that every person faces in the era of cultural claptrap. Whether it is the operatives from Planned Parenthood, California’s Governor Newsom, President Donald Trump, or some government agency, nary a one will confront the monster that is devouring our children.
Such people prefer deviance, nuance, and power to the obvious reality that children are a blessing no matter how they are created or where they may reside. This is why American Life League will never stop focusing on the human personhood of every human being from her beginning until her death. We remain forever grateful to the late Senator Jesse Helms for his powerful leadership in this arena. And we challenge those in positions of power to embrace this straightforward legislative language, inspired by Senator Helms and born out of love for truth, life and above all God, our Creator: “The right to life is the paramount and most fundamental right of a person. With respect to the right to life guaranteed to persons by the fifth and 14th articles of amendment to the Constitution, the word ‘person’ applies to all human beings; irrespective of age, health, function, physical or mental dependency, or method of reproduction; from the beginning of their biological development.”
Until America fully embraces this simple truth, cultural claptrap will continue to obfuscate the existence, not to mention the miracle, of the human person.
