Attention to the Abortion Pill Crisis Appears to Highlight the End of 2024
Recent headlines about the deadly abortion pill regimen highlight the public’s growing concern about the accessibility and consequences of these pills on the lives of mothers and their preborn children.
The first of these news reports discusses the fact that Texas’ attorney general, Ken Paxton, filed a lawsuit against an abortionist in New York who prescribed abortion pills via telemedicine to a 20-year-old Texas woman without proper Texas licensing. The 20-year-old woman who received the pills from the New York abortionist suffered health complications because of the abortion pills, which sadly killed her preborn child. This case is monumental, as AG Paxton is making the first challenge to an abortion shield law; these laws have protected abortionists in several states (including New York) and have allowed them to provide abortion pills via mail to states with more abortion restrictions. We pray that this lawsuit will ignite a spark in other attorneys general across the country to challenge these radical shield laws and access to the abortion pill.
A news piece for NBC also drew attention to the abortion pill this week as it focused on the actual pain women experience taking the deadly drugs. The report includes a study done by researchers in the UK who found that half of the women said “the pain was more than they had expected,” and 40% of these women were in severe pain with an 8-10 on a 1-10 pain scale. Though the author downplayed the severity of what these drugs do to babies in the womb and the physical and psychological effects on the mothers, it did include a decent description of what the drug regimen entails for the baby’s fate as well as the serious pain women report feeling after taking the drugs.
Lastly, Live Action reported last week that the grocery store chains Kroger and Sam’s Club were listing mifepristone, the first pill of the abortion pill regimen, as available from their online pharmacies. After pressure from pro-lifers and reports about this across the media this week, Kroger’s head of communications stated, “The Kroger Family of Pharmacies doesn’t carry mifepristone and [it] was listed on the Kroger Health Savings Club site in error. It has since been removed and we are requesting a retraction of Kroger’s inclusion in the story.” Additionally, Sam’s Club also received many calls and complaints about its advertising of abortion pills on its pharmacy’s website, and it insisted to concerned pro-lifers that it was an error and that Sam’s Club is not selling mifepristone.
While we hope that both organizations are not actually selling or promoting abortion pills, we applaud fellow pro-lifers who are bringing awareness to the evil of the abortion pill.
These stories demonstrate the importance of our action, education, and prayer to end all offenses to human life, especially the crisis of the abortion pill. Our efforts to help others see the truth in defending life is never a waste when done for God’s glory and love of neighbor. Let us go into 2025 with even more effort, prayer, and love in our defense of God’s truth and the dignity of all human life.

ALL’s STOPP Director Given Presidential Appointment; ALL Makes Defunding Planned Parenthood #1 Priority
As 2024 ends, American Life League is excited for all the opportunities to come in the New Year, as the upcoming administration has made it very clear it will make defunding Planned Parenthood a priority on day one.
Following this news, American Life League is thrilled to announce that our STOPP director, Ed Martin, has been selected by the Trump administration to serve as Chief of Staff for the Office of Management and Budget. This puts Ed and American Life League in a very unique position to aid the administration in defunding Planned Parenthood once and for all.
Last year, Planned Parenthood raked in nearly $1 billion dollars in taxpayer funding. This is an absolute slap in the face to the American people. Now, ALL will be making defunding Planned Parenthood one of our main goals in 2025.
ALL has been the nation’s number one source on all things Planned Parenthood since the ‘90s, and it is our credibility and authority that will give us the upper hand come January.
Stay tuned, and please join us in prayer as we work on laying the groundwork for what could be the biggest win for the babies in years!
ALL in the News
ALL’s Charity Watchlist was the top story for the second week in a row. ALL spokesperson Katie Brown was a guest on three live radio shows this week to discuss the Watchlist, including In the Market with Janet Parshall. The Watchlist was also given exclusive coverage by Live Action and LifeNews. ALL’s rating on the Salvation Army struck a chord with pro-life donors, with LifeSiteNews and The American Thinker both exposing the group’s stance on abortion, thanks to the Charity Watchlist.
Susan Ciancio, editor of Celebrate Life Magazine and director of the Culture of Life Studies Program—ALL’s pre-K-12 pro-life education program—wrote about making room in our hearts and lives for Christ. She also wrote about a truly inspirational pro-life priest named Fr. Jim Hewes. That article was published by Catholic World Report this week.
Twice a week, Judie’s commentaries are distributed to an expansive media list. The list contains over 100 media outlets such as Fox News, The Federalist, Breitbart, and The Daily Caller, among others. Judie’s commentaries are each featured on the front page of ALL.org.

Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. As Catholics, we have a responsibility to not only teach this but to protect the sanctity of the Eucharist. Just as we must protect Christ, we must also protect the preborn baby. This brochure helps readers see the presence of both. It is a powerful argument in support of the Catholic Church’s right and obligation to protect Christ in the Eucharist and the child in the womb. SHOP NOW

No Communion for Pelosi, Defies Canon Law Anyway
For over two decades American Life League has insisted that US bishops adhere to canon law. Catholic politicians who advocate for the destruction of preborn children are not only at odds on Catholic teaching, but they are perpetuating a grave evil. Such manifest behavior requires the application of Canon 915:
Those who have been excommunicated or interdicted after the imposition or declaration of the penalty and others obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.
Nancy Pelosi presents herself as Catholic, yet she has never shown an iota of faithful Catholicism in public life. She exhibits the opposite. It took several years, but one bishop eventually instructed her that she is not to admit herself to Communion.
@ArchCordileone of San Francisco on his barring Nancy Pelosi from Communion- and is the Vatican reviewing the case? "…There's been correspondence with the Vatican, but I was instructed that it's to be kept strictly confidential." @WorldOverLive @EWTN pic.twitter.com/XRBqvLChnr

Nancy thinks that she is above the law. Time to repent!

That includes canon law.
Lord have mercy. And justice.

This woman is so poorly catechized. Her obstinate behavior in not learning her faith is such a bad example to others too. She’s in a a lot of trouble. Lord have mercy.

Unfortunately, I don’t have much hope of the Vatican upholding this. As much as they should uphold it I just don’t trust Frances.

The Church needs to excommunicate people again. Biden, Pelosi, etc. have to be called out by the Church and the Pope. This is truly a battle between good and evil.
