Charity Watchlist Update: Beloved Charity Earns New Red Rating for Association with Planned Parenthood
ALL’s research department recently reviewed the American Heart Association, a charity that previously received a “green” rating on ALL’s Charity Watchlist due to its stance against utilizing human embryos and fetal tissue in the research it funds. However, ALL recently uncovered that AHA no longer deserves pro-lifers’ support due to its partnership with Planned Parenthood in 2023 and promotion of LGBTQ+ lifestyles.
Just last year, the American Heart Association’s community impact coordinator provided a grant to a Planned Parenthood in Roanoke, Virginia, to establish a self-measured blood pressure program at that facility. Planned Parenthood of Roanokecurrently offers abortions, contraception, and “gender-affirming care.”
This is what AHA’s blog said about its collaboration with Planned Parenthood last year:
Over the past year, Planned Parenthood (PP) South Atlantic has provided reproductive health services, STI testing and treatment, cancer screenings, gender-affirming care, all while expanding to include primary care services. PP serves all community members, regardless of insurance status. In Fall 2022, PP implemented the Target:BP Measuring BP Accurately training and skills testing into their annual competencies and staff orientation. Continuing their collaboration, the American Heart Association supported PP South Atlantic in developing a self-measured blood pressure (SMBP) initiative to enhance partnering with patients to achieve hypertension control.
The blog goes on to say that the American Heart Association would work to expand this program to Planned Parenthood’s Charlottesville facility. When asked by ALL if it had a relationship with Planned Parenthood, the American Heart Association said that it currently does not have a relationship with the abortion organization but that it “regularly works with public and community healthcare clinics across the country.” When asked if they would work with Planned Parenthood again, AHA did not reply.
Additionally, the American Heart Association also encourages people to embrace and support LGBTQ+ ideologies and lifestyles. Currently, the website provides a glossary of LGBTQ+ terminology for visitors to the website. A video recorded in 2020 by the Association’s current CEO, Nancy Brown, shows that the Association encourages raising awareness for members of the LGBTQ+ community affected with heart issues and healthcare inequities by attending PRIDE events and discussions during PRIDE month.
Due to these findings and lack of response, ALL has moved AHA’s previous green rating to red on the Watchlist. To read the full report, please click here.
ALL in the News
Last week, ALL’s new report garnered an influx of media attention, including ALL’s Katie Brown featured as a guest on EWTN’s Pro-Life Weekly. Written media included two articles from The Washington Stand, the first linked here and the second here. More media attention came from stories in The Christian Post, Live Action, The Daily Signal, National Catholic Register, Catholic Vote, The Washington Times, Catholic World Report, LifeSiteNews, Pregnancy Help News, and SRN News.
The Christan Post wrote an article about STOPP’s recent press release highlighting several of Planned Parenthood’s obscene sex-ed programs across the nation.
Susan Ciancio, editor of Celebrate Life Magazine and director of the Culture of Life Studies Program—ALL’s pre-K-12 pro-life education program—wrote an article about Respect Life Month and CLSP’s Pro-Life Essay Contest for kids that is happening now through November 4. Tell all kids! She also wrote an article (published in LifeSiteNews) about a new movie on Boys Town founder Fr. Flanagan. The movie will show in select theaters on Tuesday, October 8. We encourage you to go out and support this awesome movie!

‘Absolutely Vile’: Abortion Writer Hit with Backlash for Offering Hurricane Victims . . . Abortions
Rahm Emanuel, former White House Chief of Staff to Barack Obama, famously said, “Never led a crisis go to waste.” This rule of thumb gives progressives the opportunity to take advantage of the suffering whenever tragedy strikes. For Marxists, that means using a natural disaster to feign altruism.
An independent “journalist” and abortion advocate announced on her X account that she has put together a list of aid organizations to assist victims of Hurricane Helene. But most hurricane victims in North Carolina are out of luck because these organizations only help a specific clientele—homosexuals and expectant mothers.
We put together a list of resources @19th

for those looking to donate in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
We focused on mutual aid groups and organizations on the ground that are helping LGBTQ+ people and people seeking an abortion. https://t.co/fgAz085QAo
When rural folks have no food, water, or electricity, crazed feminists are there to give them birth control and abortions.
Because in the midst of a natural disaster, protections for trans people and the murder of infants in the womb is always of primary import!

So, hol' up…

People are homeless and without food, but your big priority is … keeping the Planned Parenthood clinic open?
What the hell is actually wrong with you?
I mean. Did you get paid to write something so utterly vile?

you should be ashamed of what you just posted.

Isn't there enough people dead and dying this week to suit you?
— Grandpa Woody (@Woody_Grandpa) September 30, 2024
Pretty sure that food & shelter are the priorities.
